Default 20,000 Miles- Front tires need replacement

Went in for a Oil Change today and the service guy at lexus is telling me my tires need to be changed after I showed him that the outer walls of the two front tires are completely worn. I asked if its under warranty and he told me its not. Is this normal? And is it actually not covered in my warranty?

Tires are wear and tear items, just like your brakes. I have never had tires covered in any warranty.

Well the IS has some minor camber issues from the factory, I too had uneven wear in the front tires.

But at the same time, the stock tires are not normally the best. And under warranty? No, its a wear and tear item, just like brake pads for example

Ok, so is there anyway to correct the camber issues? Or is it just due to aliment?

Some people add camber kits but honstly I dont know too much about that. You can tweek your alighnment, but with little to no resolution. There are 3rd party warranties you can get from your tire store of choice when you go to get new ones.

Frankly, the vehicle can eat tires and an inability to rotate them contributes to its life expectancy (about 30k mi). You must have been driving them pretty hard because I got to just a hair over 30k on my OEM tires and I too have a 350. This car gives a need to lauch like the devils behind you

Dont quote me on this, but there were no camber kits for the front until just recently (I think). I remember seeing a thread about front camber arms a few days ago.

Ill let someone else give you a better answer since Im not sure

It's kind of what Lexus expects from the car, so no, I don't think you're going to have any luck getting warranty for these tires (new cars don't come with treadwear warranties on their tires anyway). Most people do get more than what is listed on Lexus.com, but it really does depend on how you drive.

My '06 IS350 came with the original Dunlops (240 treadwear) when I purchased the car with 31k on the clock. I had to replace them right away, but they were the original tires nonetheless.

I do agree that the 2IS model comes with more than usual front camber; but as long as your toe is in spec, you should be getting substanially more miles I would think.

Exactly! I think that was the contributing factor that led to my long tire life. But seriously,

My first and last set of Turanza ER33's lasted 9000 miles on stock suspension. OP needs to get over "just 20,000 miles"

Yes I saw something like this, would like to know more because I am worried that it will happen again.

Not really sure how toe works, does this eliminate the need for a chamber kit?

I'd say you're lucky to get that much. Some dealers offer a third party tire replacement. I bought it and it easily paid for itself. If you get unidirectionals you can swap the left and right fronts to extend the life a bit.
