Default question about 17 inch rims to 19 inch rims.

Hi all,

I'm a noobie to all this car modding stuff. One of my main things im going to get is new rims first.

I have stock 17 inchs (AWD) and i want to get 19s by this summer/end of the year.

I'm assuming the rims will be heavier, will i notice a difference in how the car handles, a heavier grounded feeling? will i seem more sluggish? Never got new rims before and this is my first car.

Any help would be great! thanks boys and girls

I had 17s (awd) about a week ago and recently mounted my 19s on. I don't really notice anything but that's probably cause I don't pay much attention. I just drive normal or a tad slower.

depending on the width of your wheels and tires. You might get some more road noise.

Other than that, there will be minimal different in handling

not all rims are going to be heavier than your stock 17's either, just deppends on how much you want to spend for some quality wheels.

I did notice a bit of a difference I'd say it slow when I step on the gas at a dead stop but it just seems like its a bit more heavier... Just me though might be cause I am running 19x8.5F and 19x10R.

Not necessarily. Stock wheels are heavy as s***.

Depending on tires you may feel more road feedback (stiffer) and noise
Gas mileage is probably most noticeable thing

I have an 11' IS250 AWD with stock rims and that whistle noise is there when I roll windows down at certain speeds. Not sure what causes it other than AWD's are the only ones that have this?

Most wheels will be heavier depend on what it made of. If you go 3piece yeah one wheel might be as heavy as 2 stock wheels. Bigger rims the longer take to rotate so there for you'll be running a little slower. I know with my 3piece 19 vs stock 18s I notice a huge difference on pick up speed and mpg.
