Wow yeah from seeing that picture of the trunk, i'm definitely gonna say its a loss.
I would really hope they wouldn't try to repair that damage.

Well the car isn't totaled, yet. Here's the chart I was given from my adjuster...
Once they fully tear it all apart they "will" find more damages, who knows how little or how much. If it gets close to around $10,000 it will total it out.

Estimate amount: $19.282.41 48.91% of ACV
Projected Supplement Amount: $5,000
Total Repair Cost: $24,282.41

ACV: $39,419.00
Total ACV (incl. tax/title): $41,915.69
Salvage Value: $12,621.34
Total Non Repairable Cost: $29,294.35

Wow, that's crazy I would hope they would just total that, but insurance companies are all about saving money so for them saving 4-5k its worth to repair than replace. Good luck and hope it all works out in the end.

What is the criteria for Total Loss? At what percentage of ACV will they consider the car is total loss?

ACV is what the car is worth. For a total loss my car would have to have $29,294.35 worth of damage.

It is so sad to see a brand new car in that condition. I'm glad you made it out ok. Please continue to update us on your insurance claim.

Ok thanks for explain. So, at this stage it is around 5,000 US$ more for the repair cost to declare totaled.

My last hope is that they find a bunch more stuff when they tear it apart!

and that may happen.
In any case,it's a lease so you won't get hit with a Carfax accident and airbag deploy hit which would kill you on a future trade in or sale.
