Door Compartment RATTLE
Hey guys, so I know the dashboard rattle issue, but has anyone else faced a moderate to strong rattle noise coming from the front end passenger side door. It seems to be coming from the little compartment where you can put a bottle of water or what not. I notice that when I press firmly into it and drive, the noise goes away, not sure if its the door or the compartment. any ideas?

Perhaps a loose clip? All of my experience with chasing down rattles relates to car stereo. I would suggest playing the stereo at a higher volume and see if you hear the rattle, then pushing on the door panel to see if you can isolate the noise to a certain place. If you are able to do that, you will know exactly where the "loose" area is and be able to secure it. If playing the stereo doesn't duplicate the rattle, have someone ride with you and try pressing on certain areas of the door panel when it is making the noise....

Mine does that sometimes too, but I usually keep a water bottle on each side with a piece of cloth laid down on the bottom and the rattle goes away lol. I'll have water in case of an emergency and it stops the rattle

I was thinking of trying this exact same thing! thanks for the tip! I think the noise is created because theres a very small gap between the pull down compartment and an edge of the panel creating vibrations when you drive or go over bumps.

He wasn't referring to the bottle making the noise. I think what he is trying to say is he uses a piece of cloth and a water bottle in the compartment to stop the noise from occuring. It puts a little pressure against the compartment and I have found that this works as well when I just put a little pressure against the compartment and drive (I have long arms, and yes its not so safe) the noise will stop.

^ exactly what I meant in my other post above. If you don't feel comfortable taking your door apart for a rattle you can simply just put something in the door compartment so it applies some pressure because most likely something is loose inside/fell off.

Had this problem ,but noticed the rattle when going over bumps. Check the door sill. Mine were rubbing against the underside of the door/compartment bin plastic. The Lexus people snapped it back it and it's gone.
