Default Deals on leftover 2012 IS350 models??

I believe this is my first post so please bear with me.

Ok, time for a new ride for the wife and she happens to really like the IS350. I live in Texas so I checked Sewell's website and their inventory shows several 2012 IS350 models for $45k and some change. My question is, what can I expect to pay and would it even be worth my while to buy a model almost two years behind since the '14s are headed this way soon? I know Lexus is offering $2800 cash back and $1000 off if you finance with them..,So that's already $3800 off right there. Would $35-6k be out of the question with all discounts applied? Thanks in advance.

wow 45k for a 2012, I just picked up at 2011 IS350 for 32k and it only had 4000 miles.

Yeah, definitely not paying $45k. But, it's just the MSRP that's listed and not their actual asking price.

Seems like a salesman would best be able to answer this question. Maybe bounce between Park Place and Sewell for the best price.

As someone who bought a brand new IS350 15 months ago, my only advice is to buy used. There is just too much savings to overlook.

Thanks for the advice, Dknight. I know I'm going to eventually speak to someone at the dealer. Just figured I'd at least go in prepared. Also, they have a used 2011 IS350 for $38k. If I can pick up a "brand new" car for less, why not...Right?

If you really want a 2IS you should wait as the prices will be coming down. The dealer that had mine wanted 34.5k for it and I told them the new IS is about to come out and this is a 350 (not a big market like the 250) so you can either sell it to me at 32k now or hold on to it and see what happens. Needles to say they took my offer and I picked up the car this past Friday.

Got my leftover '12. Invoice - 3500 (incentive to dealer from factory) - 1500 (incentive to buyer from factory) plus a few other goodies thrown in.

Don't know if I can post a link but here is the link to Edmunds page for the IS350:

http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/is-350/...ncentives.html

Hope it helps

Is756, thanks...that does help a lot. But I'm just confused on the numbers you posted. I see $2800 cash back but I'm not a collage grad or in the military so I wouldn't qualify for those(total of $1750). Where did you get the $3500 and $1500 figures from?...Because that's $5000 right there!!

Would you mind posting what options you got and your deal in here? And did you negotiate at all? Thanks.

I bought my used 06 Is250 two years ago for 15,000...It looked new and ran perfect. Last owner only put 48k miles on it. Just wait and you'll find something worth the wait

My sales contract doesn't list the specific rebates. I purchased it in February so the factory incentives may have changed. I'm not military or a recent college grad either, but there was a rebate to both the dealer and the buyer at the time.

When I called Nick at Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston about the car, he was upfront and honest about the invoice and the rebates available. Which I verified on Edmunds.com.

When I got to the dealership, the car was trapped farthest from the door on the showroom floor. All the windows had been tinted (a plus at around 500 bucks or more) and there were some understated black pin stripes painted on it (a negative in my book, but they don't look all that bad. I'm still calling it $0.00 in value to me)

They offered me $1000.00 above low book for my admittedly "edgy" trade.

So to answer your question: did I negotiate? No, not really. Could I have gotten a few more bucks off? Maybe. But I paid below invoice, plus window tint and got more for my trade than I anticipated. The dealer didn't lose money. I Had a pleasant buying experience with no dickering, bickering, or posturing.

Win / Win!

Thank you so much!

Btw, I'm trying to do the math on your deal. And it looks like you paid about $37k and some change. Is that about right? Just got off the phone with Sewell and they said $5k off MSRP so the total was $41.8k from $46.8k. Still too much....

Right around 37 and a half before tax. 5k off MSRP doesn't cut it for a 2012. Invoice price minus all available factory incentives is the place to start.

I think that was the last 2012 that Sterling McCall had. I'm not sure if that motivated them to deal. But like I said, the sales guy quoted me the invoice price and informed me of the factory backed incentives right from the get go. (Which I already knew from Edmunds.com). Straight talk, honest numbers, quick and painless deal.

I would just wait till the new cars hit the showrooms, then the average public will be more focused on getting the 2014. At the moment, only people that keep up with Lexus know a new one will be hitting, thus the market has not flipped yet.

Also keep in mind, a lot of people don't like the new design (myself included) I bought my 2011 AWD IS350 knowing full well that I could have waited for the 3IS. I am sure they wont have an issue moving the 2IS 350s. In fact they are far more rare, so I would guess they might keep more value than the 250.
