Thanks for the feedback. I expect the color reproduction between them to be very similar since they both are 5000K. Now with regards to longevity between the two bulbs is tough to say.

Similar better, or similar worse? The lumen ratings seem very off - 2800 lumens for 6000k is 400 lumens more than the Ultinon...

The Morimoto bulbs have a 2-year warranty...do the XenonDepot bulbs have any warranty? Nothing is officially stated on their product page.

I have to agree, that the ratings listed above is not quite correct either for the bulb listing. Need to question where the lumens ratings were being pulled from.

Philips Ultinon D4S bulb is rated at approximately 2600 lumens (as per Philips).

XenonDepot D4S HID bulbs come with a one year warranty.

FYI from your technical specs page for this product:

D2S
5800K
2400lm
35W
42402WXX2

42402WXX2 is a D4S 6000K Ultinon bulb, should be putting out 2400lm. What is your data source for the lumens? The only official figure I could find was for D2S and it was 2400lm for 6000K.

Their output is very close, I'll give the advance to the morimoto bulbs, and also they seem to have a better build quality IMO, XD D4S bulbs are great bulbs too don't get me wrong.

Steve,

I installed my XenonDepot D4S 5000k bulbs and love the color temperature (definitely better than the OEM HIDs). But, for the first 3-5 seconds both lights have some blue hue (like 8000k) and then they turn bright white (kinda like they need to warm up). Is that normal?

Hi,

ericsan13: Thanks for pointing that out! That is incorrect on the site. Philips rates their 6000k bulbs at approximately 20% less light then their 4300k bulbs.

NimaM: That is perfectly normal.

I'm running the Harison-Toshiba bulbs, bought them to replace the 5000K Morimoto's. The Morimoto's had too much blue in them and were dim even compared to the old Philips Xeneco bulbs that came with the car.

The Harison-Toshiba are 4150K, 3200 lumens. They are quite yellow but very bright.
Build quality looks even better than Philips in my opinion.

Go for it if you want better visibility rather than colour.

I'm still struggling to find a true 5000K, 3200 Lumens D4S bulb like the Osram CBI (D2 and D1 only).
Philips have a new bulb, the Xtreme Vision rated 4800K at 3200 Lumens, but comes only in D1, D2 and D3, again no D4. Funny because D3 and D4 are both mercury free with the only difference being that D3 has an in-build igniter.

No, I mean OEM HID yellow. Just like any other OEM setup.
