Default Ebay Carbon Fiber Roof Spoiler Fading

For those with the ebay carbon fiber roof spoiler, mine is beginning to fade. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get rid of the fading or is the only way is to get it painted? Will wet sanding/polishing help? I tried polishing by hand but it didn't really do anything. Not sure if getting a buffer would help either.

Any Input would Help !

You could try using a machine polisher with scratch X or a compound. It happens to my front lip, it'll just fade over a few seasons. Now I just wrap it with vinyl and clear coat it, find it to last a bit longer.

once you bought it home, did you bring it to a bodyshop to have it sprayed a extra few coats of clear coat? if you can get that CF fade to go away, I highly suggest you put some clear coat on it.

The infamous carbon fiber fade... Extra clear coat when purchased would have prolonged the fading. It's inevitable though.

you can use a product like Opti-Coat to protect it for life... or, regular applications of sealant and wax would have prevented the issue in the first place.

yeah I might try that, but if doesn't work I'm thinking about vinyl wrapping it too

Yeah, if you vinyl wrap it you can always change styles if you get bored of it haha. I left mine till it faded and alternated between carbon fiber and gloss black a few times, just rip it off with some adhesive remover.

I have scratched my front lip a couple times on driveways and a can of clear krylon spray gets rid of the white scratches and also helps with the fade.

Not very hard if you remove it first.

And Ive had my carbon fiber roof spoiler from ebay for about 2 years now and havent had any issues. I have heard of people putting on a few layers of clear coat before installing it to prevent yellowing

Had my CF roof spoiler one for close to two years and no signs of fade, yet. Did not put any clear coat when it was purchased, which was my mistake. Probably going to wrap it later down the road when it fades and it starts to show.
