Default Will this end the pursuit of my dream car?

Hello fellow CL members, most of you won't know me because I just lurk around forums everyday. But I've been lurking for quite some time (around 8-9 months), searching for my dream combination of an IS350. So anyways searching through my websites of used cars I found an 2007 IS350 White on Black with 46k miles going for $17,000. Which of course thinking to myself is a bit TOO cheap isn't it? It doesn't state that it is salvage or not but I know it's from a dealership. I'm about to call them tomorrow morning, my search might finally be over. The car comes equipped with which I believe the Luxury Package, Navigation, and no spoiler (who cares, if I get the car I'd get a molded Wald anyways. :P)

Anyways, the problem is that it's all the way in the East and I'm in Arizona (all the way to the West side). So that means I have to purchase it online, but I've never even done a transaction in human, much less online. Advice anyone?

Here's the VIN number, JTHBE262175012846

Here are pictures:

I wouldn't buy a car that I haven't driven and inspected in person.

that's a small dealership, i would just buy a plane ticket and fly out to check it out if you are serious to buy.

I bought my ISF out of state, didn't look at it either. it was a major dealership, i made them make much bunch of videos of it running, hundreds of pics, and luckily i got to talk to the previous owner which was an older guy who had records of everything on the car. I felt good about it, financed it and got it shipped to the front of my door for an extra 800 bucks. good transaction and the car was in immaculate shape, as the pics showed and as the previous owner insisted on.

hope you have a good transaction as well. hell, its making me want to fly out to where it is to take a look at it. thats such a rare color combo and the price and mileage, too good to be true. the small dealership lot is the only thing that scares me. remember, carfax can't show anything that was never recorded through insurance or shady body shops.

I had my car shipped from the Sates to Dubai without ever seeing it or driving it, but had an independent inspector have it checked out and give me a detailed report about the car (paint thickness, scratches, chassis inspection etc.). If i were in the states i would probably go and check it out myself but if you cant do that do the standard carfax etc check, speak to the dealer, register on the lexus website as an owner and pull the service history records of the cars VIN and take it from there.

Good luck in your purchase.

one of the service history on this car... LMFAO

-12/15/2008 Bay Ridge Lexus 9189 0273352 F

but there are some major replacements tho...

-12/15/2008 Bay Ridge Lexus 9189 0273352 REPLACE LONG BLOCK AS PER INSURANCE
Replace the long block? I wonder what happened to this car...

-02/05/2009 Lexus of Queens 9660 0036085 9LC REPLACE POWER STEERING LINK ASSM FOR IS250/350
-11/13/2009 Lexus of Queens 14917 0047058 SEE LINE D/PLEASE NOTE THAT BOTH FRONT WHEELS ARE BENT/THE TIRES THAT ARE ON THE
-11/13/2009 Lexus of Queens 14917 0047058 CUSTOMER BOTTOMED OUT & DAMAGE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WELL COVER/RESECURED AS BEST
-08/17/2012 Tri-County Lexus 44359 0183292 AC LINES ARE NOT DRAINING- WILL TO CHECK ALL LINES TO DETERMINE PROBLEM- EST. $5

IMO, I wouldn't buy a car that's too far, consider the shipping cost and it might not pass the smoke check from other state in CA, becuz CA laws are a lot more strict than other state
Anyways, Good luck with ur new IS

With the service history above I would also pass and keep looking.

Is it lowered? If so i would stay away since it was modded by the previous owner. Having been driven in the NYC area definitely took a toll on the car.

This is a huge purchase and definitely something you should not buy used online. If it was new, that wouldn't be a problem.

autocheck score 93.

Calculated Owners: 2

05/10/2010 PA 20,127 Auto Auction REPORTED AT AUTO AUCTION

11/26/2012 EASTERN REGION 46,445 Auto Auction AUCTION ANNOUNCED AS FLEET/LEASE

It probably was a dealer loaner car. Then auctioned off and was another loaner car or leased.
Then was auctioned again.

i can email you the autocheck report if you want.

That's why it's so cheap. It has a history. I'd pass or go look at it in person and drive it.

Btw - I know it was only serviced here and not actually sold here but Lexus of Bay Ridge is about 10 minutes from me. I would love to help check out the car in person but by the time i get out of work the dealership is closed. Maybe another NY-er can help you out depending where the car is located.

Thanks guys I think I'll pass on it. I saw the car on Carsguru and it was posted for 16,999. It was from a smaller dealership called Emporium Auto, apparently they're "shady" after reading the many reviews about them. So I think I'll continue to look for one in my state, just crossing my fingers they will be more trade ins next year when the 3IS is released. Thanks so much for all of your input guys. Club Lexus members rocks.
