Default New to Lexus, picking up '11 IS350 AWD

Hi everyone! I'm new to Lexus (coming from Ford actually), will be picking up my first IS in a couple days. It is an IS350 AWD, used (20K). I'm fairly excited.

I was wondering if someone could give me information on tire/rims. The car I'm picking up is in great shape except for the rims it looks like (a lot of curbing it looks like). I've negotiated down the price a bit but I'm thinking I will keep the rims and put winter tires on them - which leads me to needing replacement rims.

I'm not big on doing a lot of mods 1st year into the car and actually like the stock look. However I think OEM can be pretty expensive. I was wondering if the team here had any good suggestions for a decent set of non-winter tires (not sure if I should get summer or all-season?) and good rims that don't draw too much attention.

By the way, I love what you all have done to your cars here, I'm just not quite ready to lower my car and perhaps go from 17-18's or anything like that. Windows tint for sure though, Just for starts.

TIA

Hello, welcome to CL and congratulations :]

If you're gonna get a set of winter tires, put some summers on your other set. All-weather tires suck in all weathers xD

Hmm I think that the OEM R-spec rims off of the Hyundai Genesis look good on the IS, since you're looking for rims that'll look good but not draw too much attention. You can get a set for a good price from the classified Genesis forums.

Welcome and congrats. I recommend some lfa reps. I run them in the winter. Mine are 19s but they do come in 18s

Hi Tarrant.

I'm in Canada(Ontario) and have a 2012 IS350 AWD. Originally I wanted to get the F-Sport wheels but dealer prices are nuts. It was going to cost about $5k all-in (wheels, tires, TPMS sensors and programming, balancing, installation, and taxes). So I just ordered something compatible with the car from Tirerack using the vehicle selector and saved a bundle.

I would agree that you should get dedicated summer performace tires. I don't think I have anything too flashy. Here's what I got:

Wheels: 18'inch Enkei GTC01 HyperBlack (lighter than the stock Lexus 17s)
Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sport (225/40ZR18)

Can you post a picture of these wheels on your car?

I'm currently trying to decide on a summer set too, trying to see if i can get and deals during the winter season since people are hopefully switching to thier winter set..

Don't have a good side profile picture with the whole car, and the wheels are were put away 2 months ago for winter. I do have a couple closeups that I took during the summer:

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going down to the dealer in a few hours to try and wrap this up. Hopefully my next post is pics of my new IS350 (white, something like glacier frost mica?). Just need to do final inspection and seal the deal in ink.

Also, with the IS models that come with run-flats - that's not mandatory when replacing them that you get run-flats right? I can put whatever on there? I know there is the deal with the tpms sensors but have had to deal with that before on my current car . No questions on those I think.

Those look really nice! Do they clear the IS350 caliper? I had the displeasure of buying some ISF wheels only to find out they didn't clear. Wonderful.

To the OP - congrats! I am a former 4 time Ford owner.. tough change but I've been really happy so far. The IS line is a great car.

I wanna say that the 20k wasn't how much he's paying, but the mileage on the car.

Sorry, yes 20K was the mileage! If it was 20K to buy I would have asked for 2.

Made it hope last night safely with the new car. Very, very happy. Merry Christmas to me!
