I also have a 9500 and love it. I want to get a V1 though because of the arrows, hahaha, but I liked the blue option the escort had and opted for it at the time.

9500ix - locates false signals and stores them in the built in gps. so when a cop is where your false use to be..it will go off for certain so you dont get annoyed by all the false warnings..

valentine v1 - if you want to know where the direction of the signal is coming from..thats all.

all in all, both are the top 2 to get under a 400$ budget i guess...but if you want to go with the big boys, your looking around 1200+... includes all detectors, and jammers haha. those 2 will save your *** no matter which one you pick. its all preference...have fun shopping!!!!!

What were you pulled over for anyways? Regardless, you should never consent to any searches no matter what the circumstances are. There are too many dirty cops out there that can just set you up with illegal possession. If he has no probable cause or you didn't break any law, there is no way he could even get a warrant to search your car unless you give him permission to.

In highway mode, the Valentine One could detect X-band radar from almost two miles away and K- and Ka-band radar from about a mile and a half.

Since I am from socal and have had the V1 for the past 5 years ill give you a bit of a run-down on my opinions of the v1.

I am the kind of person who is always late. So needless to say the V1 comes in handy. Not in the sense that it actually helps, but it keeps me on my toes. So I am very vigilant regarding pings and the possibility of police.

The majority of highway patrol and cops all run laser speed guns which are instant on. You wont get the signal before they already "got you".

Pros: It is directional as others have stated and tells you how many bogies there are as well as their direction. Any signals behind you are irrelevant as they cannot get a speed reading from behind. It has GREAT range. 1-2 miles or even farther depending on the road. Easy ***** for both volume and mute volume. ***** are also the mute button. Ability to get annoying loud - good for those of us with sound systems. Lets you know when a signal is from another persons (cheap) radar detector. Displays a J something message.

Cons: V1 has a tonnnn of false readings from the automatic door lasers for buildings and cannot be programmed to learn them. However, if you drive the same way all the time you just start to memorize which places have false readings. Or there are setting you can change to only beep after it is closer than x range.

All in all I would tell you to save your money. All the cops I have encountered here use laser in socal and a radar detector is not going to help you. Nothing is going to beat being vigilant. I have had two occurrences in the last month where having 20/20 with contacts have saved me from a ticket rather than the v1.
Just slow down when people suddenly brake ahead of you (reflex after spotting a cop) and keep an eye out. Save the money for mods!

I use them. Yes, they work. No, I've never been hassled by the police for them. They are LEGAL in most states. I believe there are 10 or so that outlawed them.

İ was going to Montreal on labor day weekend, doing 75 mph on 65 (i was going in same speed as other cars) so my car has laser jammers and radar detector "passport 9500ci", so cop strated tail gating me about 3-4 miles so i was on cruise control on same speed, he stop me and said "you the one who was going 109 on 65 back in south?" İ said hell no officer i was going 75 on cruise control, then he said "we couldnmt detect your actual speed but my partner saw you, you were going too fast, do you have radar detector?" İ said no=) cuz i did't know if 9500ci is legal od not. Then he started threatening us, he took my wife and my friends wife out of car (separatly)and asking how fast i was going, then he came to me and he said "i will tow your car if you don't tell me truth" i repeated whatever said before and then he started outside of the car and inside started to search, after he couldn't find anything he was mad and gave me 5 tickets by telling me "if you would tell me truth, you wouldn't get so many tickets".
Thanks god everything got dismissed by Judge, prosecutor was cool guy and support me!

Two of my friends uses the k40 rl100. I borrow their radar detectors from time to time when I make long road trips. I think it's pretty awesome apart from all the false alarms from automatic doors from gas stations and shopping malls. It guarantees to pay for your speeding ticket if you were to get any in the first year.

Every single V1 ever sold can be upgraded to the newest model. No Passport model can say the same thing. That alone makes the V1 a better deal.

Doesn't this make it obvious that you have a jammer....
Thats why you're supposed to slow down then turn it off.

Only illegal in certain states.

I've used a v1 for 2-3 years now and I've been pretty happy with it. They say when you send it in to get calibrated Valentine asks you to send a $50 payment, but I read a ton of instances where they don't even charge you and return your check.

Just an FYI, if you get a 5% tint strip at the top of the windshield and put your RD behind it, it can't be seen from outside of the car . You lose some laser sensitivity (but really, you're toast anyway) but it doesn't affect radar and offers the best position for detection, for the v1 at least.

Valentine V1 man. Tells you which direction the vehicle is coming from. Its pricey, but way helpful. The Excorts are nice but their looks is dated and there is no directionality. Valentine V1 FTW!

Yes, the fact that an officer can't get a laser reading on your car does constitute probable cause for him to pull you over and search your vehicle.

Laser jammers make absolutely no sense.
You make no sense.

The jammer shows ERROR on the first read, you slow down, the cops reads again and sees you aren't speeding. BOOM.
