Default Clicking sound from front wheel / suspension / stering when going in R

So I had this sound once in a while when going out of park and into reverse from the front wheel (usually the driver side), more often when it is cold and I'm turning left or right. It never happens when I'm going forward regardless of engine speed or vehicle speed.

My warranty is almost out and I bought it in to the dealer, and the tech reproduced it with success and said it is a "brake rattle" instead of steering or suspension. Basically it is the brake pad rattling inside the caliper between going D and R, and there is nothing to be done about it except adding some grease as a temporary fix.

Is it "normal" or "common" to have this on IS250? I've had the brake dust TSB done about 3k miles ago at this dealership, so now has the low dust pad. The car is 45k miles and 2008 (made at the end of 2007).

I heard that it can also be a worn caliper hardware kit and since it is done at the dealer last time they will have to pay for it, so they try to shy away.

Any suggestion?

Most likely it is your brake calipers shifting on their supports when you go into reverse. Had the same clicking sound on my Subaru WRX and the dealer said it was normal, never caused me any problems.

I think it has to do with the shift-lock there on the lower center console. I hear it this morning when switching from P to D.
