ignition is set to off my homelink works, that means if I leave my car outside and somebody breaks in (my car), they can easily open my garage door. I need to rewire it!!!!

Soneone can break in to any car that has a remote control garage opener hanging on their visor. I think you're safer with the homelink because it's not noticable.

Reset the homelink, and use the OEM garage remote, and bring it inside with you.

most thieves try to avoid confronting the owners.... so its unlikely that they would risk opening your garage and then going inside, where you could be waiting with a shotgun.

Where you could be more at risk, is if you are dumb enough to program the "home" option on your gps to your real address.... then people can steal your car, use your navigation to take them to your house, and then let themselves in (while you spend hours trying to get home). Always program this option to a nearby store or intersection.

Park in the garage, then they will have to break into the garage first, then break into your car, then open the garage after.........

Most people leave their registration and pink slips in their cars. Both contain the home address. Programming the GPS just makes it easy. I have mine programmed to the nearest major intersection as the Home option. Close enough for us, but obscure enough to the potential thief.

yeah, i have mine set to a nearby store. Good point about the paperwork.... didnt think about the registration having the address, seems like an oversight by the DMV.

Your homelink will ONLY work if your proximity key is IN the car or the car is running already.

So, they cannot open your garage door unless you have left the key in the car.

Yeah you can definitely use the homelink without any key or anything in the car lol. If you are REALLY worried about it go back to using the regular garage remote and either take it inside with you or lock it in the glove compartment each time the car is outside.

I thought he's talking about the remote is warm or something ... another option would be to wire an ignition wire to the mirror if it bothers you.

Default I like your idea. Do you know which fuse controls homelink?

I don't see it listed anywhere in the manual.
