Default 06' IS350 buyer needs purchase advice!

Hey guys
I have an 06' 350 with 36k miles, a nice Florida car purchased from Carmax, and i must say the buying experience has been grate with them so far having never dealt with them. With the 5 day money back window they have, i had a Toyota tech friend check it out for me today, said the car drove great, looks great and everything worked like it should. I talked to the dealer who sold the car, one owner, all service records were done and all recalls performed at that same dealer.
When my buddy opened the panel to get to the oil filter, he instantly saw what he has seen before on these motors, the timing chain cover is showing the beginnings of leaking. He knows and i know now how big of a deal that is to fix, it was never fixed under warranty. So now i have a great looking car that i really like, yet has this leak issue along with a noisy tachometer cable and he said the moon roof motor sounds like it is tired or going to fail. Is this tach cable noise normal, should i be hearing a noise from the gage panel areal when the tach moves, anyone had issues with the moon roof mechanism. Do i turn the car in and run, or is this a normal issue with the motor? if Carmax agrees to fix it all do i keep it or look for another one ?
Any advice from you guys would be great. This is my first IS 350 and i want to have one, just need to know what i am dealing with here.
thanks
Rob

Im a Lexus tech for almost 2 years now and I've yet to see a IS sun roof fail. Also on the oil leak, your budy works for Toyota but not Lexus. The 3.5 that's in a IS is much different from the ones in fwd Toyota's. The fwd motors did have a oil leak problem but the IS/GS did not. Is the noise just on start up or all the time?

Thanks for the advice!
The tach noise is consitant with needle movement.. if its linked by a cable( sounds like gears slipping) it makes since ,if its electronic im not sure what would be causing it?

I assume CarMax offered you their extended warranty coverage on the car. They have coverage that will fix everything, including what you listed. That's a great find...reminds me of my 350 I got in April last year with 31k on the clock. Very solid car, not a thing wrong with it.

Wish you luck!
