If "money wasnt a problem" he would go for an IS-F. Which, while on topic, i would consider seeing as you can get an '08 for that price.

Now to answer OP's Question:

Test drive them both. youre on the right track on f-sport (especially if youre not looking at modding heavily - from my understanding f-sport package is less than the f-sport parts). For me, the 350 and 250 were night and day. I also came from my totaled 300. I loved that thing and to think about loosing power was not for me. So i saved a little longer and waited for the perfect deal. I would suggest the same. 350, final answer.

IS350. Its like 2.5 seconds faster 0-60 than the IS250. You will also be able to toast most cars on the road besides maybe a BMW 335i, Corvette, and IS-F. Be warned, your gas mileage will suck because its so powerful that it makes you want to step on the gas. But it's worth it.

IS-F might be a bit too over powered for a daily driver IMO. I think the IS350 is perfect when it comes to power and gas mileage. A car that can do 0-60 in 4.8 stock is definitely more than enough but it would be nice to have a car that can do it in low 4s. I don't know if I would want to drive a V8 16MPG car, especially when gas priced spike to $5.50 per gallon in California 2 weeks ago....

I would personally pick IS350. I have 250 and I wish it has a few more horses. For the given weight, IS250 is slow. Not very slow, just slow.

IS350. I have a 250 and while it runs great, I drove the IS350 sports package, it made me regret the 250.

When I was deciding, I test drove both. After that it was a EASY decision.....350

the 250 just doesn't have the pick up and go / response as the 350

+1
I only got F-SPORT emblems and the car feels so much better. :-D
j/k
I actually got f-sport shocks and no way I will recommend non f-sport.

my 2008 is250 engines is so much better than the 2012 is250. I don't know why but the 2012 felt like a 4 banger from Chrysler ala c200.

I owned a '10 IS250, and now an 09' IS350. There is NO comparison between the two cars... nowhere near the same animal. And my combined city/hwy mpg per tank is only 3-4mpg less.

The 350 makes the 250 feel like a Prius in terms of performance.
