Default ordered an f sport exhaust need opinion

I ordered my exhaust from a lexus dealership on ebay and when i received my exhaust the gaskets and bolts were missing. I also noticed that the exhaust was some what dirty, meaning there were dry water marks on it. I also noticed a few scratches on it too, but the scratches weren't big but still a few scuffs marks. Since the exhaust is on the car already I don't have any intention of returning it. I contacted the seller and he asked for proper reimbursement for the item. Can you guys tell me what is proper reimbursement?

How much do you think the damage is worth? How much do you think it was fair for you to pay given the item's condition compared to what was stated in the listing?

If the item was sold as "new" or did not specify the scratches etc, you could argue with them, because the seller is usually protected for this.

So, if it was me, and I paid say.. $400 for the exhaust, but I believe the condition is significant I would ask for at least $50 reimbursement.

I dont believe gaskets and bolts come with F-Sport exhaust, you use the stock hardware.

As for the scratches, if theyre under the muffler (not on the tips), I'd let it go. You'll never see them and you'll forget about it. If it's on the tips or visible when installed, then yeah I'd ask for a little compensation (<$100).

50-100 bucks would be fair.

I'd say save your exhaust and ask for the parts.

Some polish and a buffing wheel and that would look brand new in no time at all

To me, it's the principle. If I'm spending over $1200 for a brand new product, I expect to have it delivered and in my hands in flawless or near flawless condition.

I, as a consumer, should not have to waste my own time to buff scratches out. I'd demand compensation.

It looks to me like this item was bought, and installed on a persons car, and they returned it, and they resold it... just my opinion though.

^ in which case its open item/return id ask for 10% of your money back since its already on your car...but I agree with others that you should expect something mint. It just sucks with big stuff because its such a waste of time and money shipping things back etc.
