Default Update: iPhone 5, Lightning Cable and 2012 IS350

As I promised in an older thread, here are the results of trying to use a new iPhone 5 with my 2012 IS 350.

The bottom line is that everything works -- but it took some scrambling to get there.

When I first plugged the phone in, it charged but the USB tab in the Audio section was grayed out. And, no BT tab either.

So, I paired the phone for BT audio and the BT audio worked, but still a gray tab for USB.

Turned the power off, re-powered and the USB tab was operable.

All functions now work the same as they worked with my iPhone 4 and 30 pin cable.

I know some of you have reported failures with the Lightning cable. But, have you paired for BT audio first?

This should not matter. With my iPhone 4, I never paired for BT audio because I thought the USB audio was better. But, for whatever reason, this seems to be required with the lightning cable.

And, yes, I am sure I was getting USB audio -- I switched between the sources.

Hope this helps. Before I got it to work, I was thinking of sending the phone back.

Steve

I was able to sync my phone and contacts with my 2011 IS350 pretty straight forward. The BT audio doesn't seem to connect though.

I was just about to say it works flawlessly in my 2011 IS-F, after reading that it was working in another thread. I too BT'd first but only by coincidence.

I'm also having issues. I can use BT, but sometimes I simply lose audio when using the iPhone music app, and the display reads "no Info". This can occur at some point AFTER I've already been listening for a while! I think I can get it to start working again, by going to an alternative source. I have used Pandora for this. Otherwise, the only way to get it to start working again seems to be stopping the car, and restarting it.

Also. I get nothing at all on USB. I can go to the tab, but nothing works at all. I haven't tried Pandora over USB. I'm a bit worried about trying, since it was after trying to use USB that BT started screwing up. I'll delete the BT connection, and start over, to see if my issue goes away.

Ok! I just figured it out. Hope this helps anyone having problems.

The old iphone was still in the cars memory, and it has the same name as the new one. so i was trying to connect it to my old phones ip address or whatever those numbers are. so i just deleted the old one and re connected it with the new

When this happens to me I usually have to go into pandora and swtich the audio output to bluetooth

I've used Anker, Amazon Basics, and Moshi - never had a problem with any of these three
