I HATE the material the dash and trim are made of, so heres me idea
I know im not the only one who hates and has had with the the rubberish material of the dash and trim in the interior of my 350, cleaning it properly is next to impossible and it already has a few minor gashes and ect. I have this idea of removing the dash and all trim and spraying ot with black Plastidip then clearcoating it. In theory Im sure it would work and look badass. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

Is it wrong that I actually really like the dash material? I would just wonder about fitment after you plastidip/clear coat everything (mostly around vents/center console). And I can't really wrap my head around what clear-coated-plastidip would look/feel like.

The dash material is great IF you don't live in hot climates and park your car in the sun. Long term sun exposure tends to make it rubbery. I live in TX but my car is in the garage when I'm not out driving it and the dash is as good as when it rolled off the assembly line in 2006. Wherever you live you should use 303 Aerospace Protectant, either spray or wipes, about once a month using a microfiber towel on the surface to even out the surface after treatment. It protects the material, leaves a very low gloss surface, is non greasy, and makes it look great. I use it on all the vinyl surfaces on the interior. I think too many people don't use anything, or use a crap product like Armour All.

I have an 06 so im sure the previous owner used all kinds of gunk on it already, some melted spots closer to the windshield, swiffer duster is great for getting lint and dust or whatever off but not really what im looking for. Everything that ive plastidipped and clearcoated with their spray come out very nice, get wet gloss look, becomes hard and smooth to the touch

I live in Florida and have no garage, tried using a sunblocker on the windshield but one day while removing it it left some.marks on the dash, also thinking about just shelling out 700.bucks and getting a new dash

You do not want to try plastidip lol
Worked with that product a few times here and there, and it's def not something I can see inside of the car, even after the gloss
I never bother touching my dash, keeping in mind I do not want to harm it. I know my brothers e93 335 has a great dash, and it doesn't get damaged like ours, but I can't complain!

man ppl take plasti dip too far... sounds like a terrible idea, not only will you make your interior look cheap but it'll be next to impossible for you to clean it without scraping it off later on. I bet you didnt think about that. If you hate your dash so much customize it properly and have a body shop fiberglass it. I use 303 aerospace to clean my dash and it works just fine

Yea removing it will be a project in itself, have a friend with an 06 downs which has same.material dash and when he got an entertainment system.installed at best buy chunks came out when they removed the console, bit of a deterrent for me

The reason why Lexus uses this material is to reduce glare for drivers. My previous owner wiped the crap out of the interior with armor all shiny crap Took me forever to take it all off with a diluted degreaser.
IMO flocking the dash would be a nicer idea, although I've heard that its a pain to keep is clean since it likes lint.
