Default Rough idle <500 rpm and WOT not going over 5000rpm

ok, so I got off the HWY and stopped at a traffic light, when car started to shake. Rpms we're bouncing under 500rpm. Put it in neutral and WOT, and to my surprise the rpm's wouldn't go higher than 5000, the needle was stuck there as if it was a computer limited value.
I put it back in drive and moved the car, then N again, and this time WOT let it go to the rev limiter. Haven't had that happen since, called stealer and they want to charge me 120 diagnostic fee after giving me all the BS in the manual.
No engine lights on, premium gas, new spark plugs, seafoamed the valves about 5k ago and used Lucas a couple of times in the tank.

I do not want to be paranoid about it but it shouldn't happen, right?

Check out the carbon build-up thread...

It has all the information you need. BTW, I have the same issue to on my IS250. Our cars are a victim of carbon build-up.

I am very familiar with that thread but convincing the dealer of anything is definitely an uphill battle. I mentioned carbon buildup and they looked at me as if I had two heads, and lyying that they are not aware of any issues with the car. I am going to call Lexus Canada next, even though I know they are different entities.

My mechanic used seafoam on the valves when I changed the spark plugs and I hope it took care of most of the eventual issues. I guess not...
Anyway, I have a can of seafoam spray, I will give that one a try next

I don't know about Lexus Canada, but Lexus USA has started sending out letters to affected IS250 owners to address this carbon build-up issue. They extended the warranty to replace affected parts to 9-years and unlimited mileage.
