Default Had something weird happen in PWR Mode......

Yesterday I was driving on the highway in PWR mode. When I would get on it and the car would downshift it would stick in 3 or 4 gear and not shift back through the gears. I would have to switch out of PWR mode in order for the car to shift back up. I ended up pulling off shutting the car off and starting it back up. Everything worked fine after that.

Seems like a computer glitch took place. Has anyone else experienced this?

How long was it lagging in 3rd/4th gear? I've had it lag and stay in a low gear in ECT mode for a "while" but no more than 20 seconds probably. I let off the throttle completely to coast and it up shifted. It wants to stay aggressive, but I'm unsure if its lagging or just doing what it's supposed to. I've had it rev way higher than I'd like (close to redline) when not accelerating hard too, when in ECT mode.

It would just stay there, I would let off the gas and let it coast nothing. I am not sure how long it was but i'd say at least 10-20 seconds before i switched back to normal because i didnt want to leave the engine reving. Hadn't experienced in in the past using that mode so I was a little concerned at the time.

when you first shift into sports mode, it limits the top gear to 4th. gear, you have to manually up that limiter by "shifting" up. Could it be that? BTW, the ECT PWR function is disabled in Sports Mode, only active in Drive Mode.

I was not in "sport" mode. I was in D and using the PWR ECT Mode.

I was going to say that but then realized that Sport mode disables ECT Power......

Maybe i'm not being clear, I was not in sport mode. I was in regular "D" mode using Power ECT in which the car would not upshift after downshifting to 3rd or 4th gear. I would then switch out of Power ECT still in "D" and the car would shift.

PWR mode is just a change in the tranny's shift points; so--doesn't this mean it's working properly?

This happens to me occasionally, usually when I'm going downhill on the freeway and make a rapid deceleration.

If you mean you romped on it, then when you pulled off the gas it held in the same gear, that's what PWR mode is intended to do.

It does more than just change shift points-

When I'm going downhill I see the same but I think it's on purpose so you are not accelerating by going downhill if you're not pressing gas. I think it's kind of cool. I tried with other cars it just keeps going without holding the gear.

It keeps it in the higher RPM on purpose... So you can slam black down on the gas and feel the powaaaaa!

Thanks Kurtz I guess the point i am trying to make that is getting missed is that once the car downshifted it was stuck in the given gear would not upshift at all regardless of speed braking rpm etc....Once i shut the car the off and turned it back on everything worked as it has every other time using the ETC PWR. I understand how the feature works and should work but this wasnt normal. Either way it seems to be fine now, just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced it as well.
