no thoughts?

Anyone know if they've ever issued an improved / redesigned water pump for our cars?

Lexus' updated our water pump in mid 2009'. So far I haven't heard any issue with the updated pump.

What do they replace them with, the same pump that has a notoriously high failure rate or a better pump that has less of a chance of failure?

Reading the posts in this thread, it seems there are a few ppl that have gone quite a while with their original pump which leads me to believe any replacements will use the original pump. If so, and longevity really is hit or miss, then I guess we'll just have to check it periodically for signs of leaking. Thoughts?
it really is hit or miss man. i just had to replace the water pump on my 350 about 2 months ago. it lasted until 180k so i cant really be too upset, even though i was becasue that was HUGE hit to the wallet to get that replaced lol

If you think that's a huge hit...esp at 180K miles...you might want to consider another car...

Just curious...what do you guys think is a fair labor price for the dealership to replace the water pump?

My '06 350 is in for a recall right now and they just called saying that my pump is starting to leak. They quoted me $920 including labor. My car has 111k miles on it. Not sure if it's ever been replaced since I've only had the car since 73k miles.

^That's about a median price for that repair. Best to get it over with than risk overheating.

If you are in the Atlanta area, You all should try out Lex Techs of Atlanta. They are great. I have been going their for years. All of their techs came from the Lexus dealership. Even the only guy in Atlanta that knows how to work on the LFA actually works there now! They quoted me only $575 for parts and labor.

Resurrection . Was at the dealer (CA Bay area) and they told me my water pump is failing. Only 49k miles. Their quote is about 1k before tax. I am under the extended warranty so hopefully that works out.

You guys know that you can get the OEM water pump, gaskets and coolant for ~$130 right ? There are a lot of DIY's out there for this.

Aisin is good. Toyota and Lexus use their part as well.
