Default OEM Mid Pipe....Worth Anything At Scrap Yard?

I sold my IS about a month ago with the Invidia Mid Pipe on it. So now I have the OEM Mid Pipe sitting in my basement. I know it's not worth much selling it to someone on here. Yet my dad told me to check and see how much a scrap yard would buy it for. It's a pretty big piece to just throw away.

My question is on the pipes; is their two resonators or are those primary or secondary cats? I've sen where cats are sold to scrap yards for some good money....hence why theives are cutting them off cars and selling to scrap yards.

Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this before I throw it away!

You have the secondary cats at the front of the mid pipe and the resonator at the rear. Scrap value isn't likely much on the pipes or the resonator, but yes the cats are a different story. I don't know what they go for, but know that people that work at shops around me have had problems with people sawing cats off of cars in the middle of the night, so that they can sell them. I would call a couple places tomorrow and see. As for me, my factory mid pipe is hanging on the wall of my garage. Remember that your car isn't "legal" without the secondary cats and if you ever wanted to make it legal again the factory mid pipe sells for around $1,400 on Sewell.....

Thanks for the reply. I actually sold my car to a dealership and they said they did not want the mid pipes. So I kept the Invidia on the car and sold it that way. I have waited until they sold the car (they sold it a week ago) before I did anything with the OEM Mid Pipe seeing as they pretty much sold the car with an illegal exhaust setup.

Now that it's sold, I think I will just call up a few places. I've read that Lexus, BMW, Mercedes have some of the more expensive cats. As they have better metals in them. Guess I'll find out.

Sounds like the plan then. Let us know what they tell you they will pay for them. Now I'm curious!

I will for sure! Is there a difference between a secondary cat and the primary cats? Is the secondary smaller....or should it be worth just as much as a regular cat?

I'm pretty sure they aren't interchangeable, since the primaries are made into the exhaust manifolds.
