So why did they have me switch over to the dark brown flasher when I got my 2012 headlights?

Even when sewell was selling the headlights it included a dark brown relay, I am just wondering, thanks for your help sango

I asked Jeff Lange a few months ago about that.

It's cheaper to make the same flasher in US than getting one from Japan; so in terms of replacements that's what you get. One could still get the Japan made one, you just need to find a source in Japan to get it or get a new 2011+ car which comes with it.

2006-2010 headlights have 2 signal bulbs per headlight, your new headlights only have 1 signal bulb per headlight.

You need a new flasher so that it doesn't flash fast (which it does when you burn out a bulb -- or in the case of putting in the new headlights, remove a bulb).

I understand, I thought it meant that the brown one (jdm beige) was for LED and was wondering why sango would choose a different relay if the one on his car would work.

Sango did your LED bulbs flash fast with the stock relay?

Yes as stock relays are not designed for LED.

The reason because is because the stock relay is expecting a certain value determined by the resistor which is inside. LED's the resistance is lower than that of a bulb (since LED's uses less power), therefore the stock relay hyper flashes because it thinks there is a bulb which is burned out.

This is one reason why I was in the works of modifying a stock one. If you put a lower resistance resistor such that the LED will work, it will not hyper flash; Some members have done this.
