Throttle response and sport seats?
Hi everyone,
I tried to work out a deal with bmw to get the 135i today, but the deal didnt work out mainly because of the new 2013 package problems. Anyways, I am seriously considering a IS350 right now. I went to the dealer and checked a price tag on the F-sport is350. It's a hard choice for me because I'm giving up manual for this. Anyways, I have a few question for the community! First, I tried out by friends is250 and I could not handle the throttle lag. When you stomp the gas pedal down it feels like there's a 1 second delay. Does this happen on the is350 as well? How's the delay? Also, if I get the F-sport, I noticed the website stated that it includes microfiber seats. I want leather seats, how are these microfiber seats?
Thanks

So you haven't test drove a 350 yet? The difference in power between the 250 and 350 is night and day. You can pull 5.0 sec 0-60's (disable the traction control) in a 350 beating out most cars in it's class.
It's also still leather all the way around, the microfiber is insert in the bottom cushion and seat back to prevent sliding around during cornering.
One thing to consider, a redesign is due to be released in the next 6 months to a year so it may affect the resale value of your car. Maybe discuss this with the dealer to negotiate a better deal.

Thanks for the tip, I wont sell the car out, but I will consider using it to negotiate with the dealer. I understand the power and speed difference but what about the throttle lag when you floor it?

Yeah thats what I meant. Not so much if Im flooring it from the line, but more of when Im on the freeway going at lets say 65 and flooring it. The is250 had a one second lag feel, but is the is350 feel as delayed as the 250? Thanks again everyone.

When already in motion.. I find there is less delay in throttle response when in ECT mode. Throttle response seem quicker to me in this mode and no annoying delay, but it could be my imagination.
If you test drive make sure to turn this on if doing a throttle response test while already moving. You do get a faster 0-60 with it off though.

well to be honest i don't feel any lag with my is350 especially when in ECT mode and using paddles. on the other hand my previous car which was a BMW 330ci had a huge lag and i hated it. i'd say go with the f sport and you wont regret it.

ect power made has less lag than normal mode. I have a 350, and I know what you mean about the lag. Well, some of it is because of the drive by wire, other is that it's auto.
If you drive in ect power mode, and have the car on sport shift, the lag will go away once you have control of your gears.

I haven't tested my car too much yet, since I just got it today and I'm still in the break in period. I can tell you though, that you need to press the gas a little bit more than normal cars maybe because of the electronic systems in it. I don't feel too much of a lag, but there is a little not as much as the is250. I felt that the throttle did respond faster while in sport mode but the shifting isnt as responsive (maybe because i'm in the lower rpms)
