Exclamation OEM staggered setup? WTF?

So I buy all my tires from America's Tire cause they always give me the best deals. I recently got the car and didn't think to really check the tires cause It didn't even cross my mind that it would be a staggered.

So last weekend when they pulled the tires off I realized the front tires were flush with the rim while the rear ones were hanging over a little. I checked the back of all the wheels and sure enough they are all 17 x 8

2 questions.

Why would they do this?

and

Could I swap out the front tires for wider tires as well so I could do a rotation. I've never liked staggered setups because you can't rotate.....

So you are saying that Americas Tire Co gave you 17x8 tires in the rear and what...17x7s in the front?

If have an AWD 250, then that is a problem. If you are RWD, then that can be done. But if Americas Tire Co did it without your knowledge, that would be interesting because the wider tires are more expensive. The only problem it will cause is the afore mentioned tire rotation issue.

If you never owned a rwd drive wider tire in the back is for better traction.

I hope you're not saying you don't know about your car specs before you got the car.

Stock is 17x8 all around with 225 front/245 rear. It's what the car is supposed to have.

You can switch to a square setup if you'd like without issue, but what they installed is correct (unless you have AWD).

I am running 245/40R17 all around on my RWD with the stock 17x8 wheels.

Jeff

Would I need spacers or would I need to roll my fenders? Is the 245 going to fit inside the wheel well? I'm thinking of getting wider tires so I have a square setup like you.
