I hear ya. I hit em up and they said they weren't aware of anything. Told them I'll be needing my service records.

Just a heads up there are known issues with the IS water pump being faulty. I heard and seen few that have gone even at 20k. Gotta pay attention to the leaky coolant and whiny noise the pump makes.

Default engine replacement

if Lexus will not cover it buy a used low mileage engine from ebay or www.car-part.com and have some good independent shop install it for you 18 grand for engine repair is crazy in my opinion good luck

mine was making a noise like water was rushing back towards the back of the car when i drove off from a stand still, ended up being the water pump so it was replaced around 30k. It is a known issue make sure that they know that you know that. I dont see how they wont honor the warranty.

If they dont drop an is350 engine and a new water pump in and call it a day:

with labor I dont see it being over 4k on the high end.

yes, they replaced my waterpump too at 67k - I didn't even ask for it, the tech noticed it leaking. sounds like a real defective waterpump on our cars, along with the carbon buildup, rear brake caliper locking up and a few others.

Heard back from Lexus Customer Service and they'll contact the dealer for specifics and get back to me by the 26th. Thanks for the feedback so far.

I hope this all ends in your favor. I'm quite interested in hearing what the dealership will say.

Wow, just got off the phone with Customer Care and they will not cover any part of my repairs. Their reason is that it's a wear and tear issue not a malfunction.

So water pumps normally only last under 100k miles?

I would check with a lawyer.

Time to hit up some complaint websites.

Type it out in a calm manner, no swearing, just the facts of the story.

Post here:
http://www.complaintsboard.com/
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/lexus.html
http://www.pissedconsumer.com/

there was somehwere called commurist or something, find that place too

How could this happen with no warning lights?

It feels like we're not getting all of the story here. An engine doesn't just fail and then Lexus says it's wear and tear and not covered.

It just doesn't make any sense.

I feel the same way. The only thing I left out from the day it broke down is that my AC cut out for a bit before I started hearing the noise. What I don't get is the dealer said my water pump failed which caused internal damage to the engine and now it's wear and tear. My car is out of town with the engine disassembled. It's going to cost to get it towed to get a 2nd opinion, let alone a shop nearby. I'm gonna try one more complaint with Lexus and if they still won't cover I'll have to consider totaling it.
