Default Possibly trading in IS350 for ISF

Just wanted to get members opinion on what they would do.

Currently I have a 2011 SGM IS350 F Sport and in my area the dealership is selling a Starfire Pearl 2009 ISF with 36,*** miles on it. Would you keep a car you bought brand new or go with the F if the numbers work out?

Just do it , or sell it private and then get the car.

if your 2is was an older model year, and you could get everything lined up, it would be worth considering.

but since your 2is is 2011 (and an f-sport model, to boot), i'd keep it.

It's really a personal decision. Do you care about taking a hit on the 2011, or would you rather take the hit and enjoy the extra power (and a car that is 2 years older). Some people don't care and will take the hit for the power.

I test drove the an ISF at Steven's Creek and talked about a possible trade in. I'll relay you the numbers they gave me.

The 08 USB ISF sticker price of 44-45k (same as KBB), 19k miles.

My 10 350 (paid off, not sure if that matters), 19-20k miles, told them I would put the OEM parts back on. They wanted to give me 30k for it.

So a difference of 20k pre-negotiations.

First time driving the ISF and honestly, I couldn't tell that much of a difference of power between the two. Albeit, I didn't get to go on the freeway, which was odd. But it sounds oh-so-wonderful. Click the image to open in full size.

I really like the car you have but if you've always wanted the F I would trade up. I always say go drive the darn thing.
IMO if you had a 250 it would be a no brain-er but you have a real nice car and if the trade is only for the horse power I would think twice about what the F offers you.
Like for me I have an 08 with nothing special, so of course I would...

I was going to buy a NEW 2011 IS-F earlier this year, they quoted me about 55k, 45k seems steep for a 2008. 10k is big difference too, but just wanted to throw that out there.

The biggest loss would be the Gen 6 nav with Bluetooth audio. I couldn't do it

If you're even interested, and can afford it, I would absolutely go for the F.

I had bought a brand new 11 WRX literally a month before getting married with the intention of it being a long-term ride. I modded it tastefully and it was a very fun, very zippy (stage 2), and very practical (hatchback) car which ticked off all my ideal-car checkmarks.

Then I test drove an ISF.

Now I know going from an 11 IS to an ISF is way less of a jump but I was blown away by absolutely everything about the F. If anyone is able to drive it in Sport mode with the paddles, floor it, hear the intake bypass open, feel the power push you back in your seat, shift when you hear the beep...and not grin...that's impossible.

If performance is only a nice-to-have then keep your car. You have the best of both worlds. But if you want "moar powa" and the numbers work out, absolutely go for the F. Once I realized I could afford a used ISF I couldn't get it out of my head and I honestly can't even comprehend what kind of car it would take for me to sell/trade it in for. The GTR is really the only thing I can think of but starting a family soon that's not ideal.

And FWIW, 6 months ago I got my 08 ISF w/ 50k miles for $37,500 from a dealer. It had some paint dings up front but has been driving flawless after nearly 10k miles. (I bought a 3rd-party 100k mile full/complete warranty for around $2k just in case but no issues yet). $2k for 50k more miles is a steal IMO.

So don't trade just to get an F. You have an awesome car that'll last you forever. But if the deal is right go for it! Or sell privately then hunt for the right F if that's where your heart is pointing you.

If the numbers work out and owning an F is what you really want, I'd say just do it. You only live once so enjoy it while you can.
