Question Noob; Question on 9006 Replacement bulbs

Hi guys

Please help me with this:

I want to get these MTEC 9006 Super white bulbs. I realize this is just simple plug and play but after doing some search i have found out there are cases of the OEM harness melting. So my question is do i have to get the heavy duty ceramic harness for these bulbs or are these harness if only one is changing the fogs to HIDs ??

Thanks in advance

i run a 70watt nokya bulb that only turns off when the car is off and my harness is fine... i myself wouldn't run a 100w bulb.

@ IIamaboiz: Thanks for replying to my thread. And you are very correct that there would'nt be any trouble if we run bulb that has the same wattage as the factory bulbs. But i was just being curious. These MTEC bulbs confuse me cause they specify its 55w 12V bulb like our OEM ones but then they go mentioning 100W right under 55W. Please tell me how are these nokya bulbs and for how long have you been using them?

Actually those should be fine. They are 55w. They just saying their output/brightness is just as powerful as if you were using a 100W.

It's very similar to what PIAA has and they list similarly.

@ Sango : Ah .. i see. Thank you for answering my doubt. I think to be on the safe side it would'nt hurt if i got those Heavy Duty harness "just in-case" :-)

BTW which do you suggest are the best replacement bulbs if i wanted a 4300k - 5000K look?

Hmm, good question.
What you have there is probably good. Alternatives could be Philips Diamond Vision or the PIAA.

Since these are halogen's their output functionality would not be as useful. If you were looking for the functionality piece, I would recommend for you to convert to HID + HID Projector on the fog.

Sorry for the late reply. Yea i don't wanna go for HID that's why i was looking at these replacement bulbs. But now that you mentioned that their functionality would be relatively lower than the factory halogens im now reconsidering if i do want these aftermarket bulbs. Anyways thanks a lot for you help pal. I do appreciate it a lot. Cheers
