Default Cost to repair/replace dashboard?

So I have a scratched up dash with one spot that is torn down to the green foam. Any idea how much this would cost to repair? Or would I have to replace the whole dashboard?

^^^ TSB are used to repair defects from manufacturing . Plus, the TSB that you are stating, is for "melting or sticky" dash...I don't think this will fall into that TSB.

I believe the dealer will deny the warranty claim if the damage was caused by error.

You can try sweet talking the dealer into fixing it for free... replacing the whole dash will not be cheap.

Quick question, do TSB's work under extended bumper to bumper warranty?
I got my car CPO from Keyes Lexus! Its an 06 with nearly 50k miles on it. I bought the extended 5 year or 100k miles

$224, I was out of warranty and went through lexus corporate. Call them. They will tell you to take it to a dealership so they can get pictures. Explain that these "gashes/holes" happened by you simply touching and running your fingers on the dashboard. Honestly even though it looks like you did that, no TRUE non defective dashboard should do that. Most likely they will pay labor and you pay parts.

^ I don't think its a case of manufacturer defect at all, looks like user error to me and i wouldn't be surprised if the dealer decides the same thing.

It definitely looks like it took a little more than "running your fingers" on the dash to get that kind of damage.

Yes and NO, see this is where youll be able to take advantage of their ****ty dashboard (its a known issue that it melts to the touch after being in the sun for hours)

I had damaged the HELL out of mine when I removed my head unit, granted there were other scratches and holes here and there. Took it to the dealership and told them the dash gets so sticky/melted that I touched it sometimes and so and so happened.. like I said $224 later I had a new dashboard, and it was evident most of it was of error on my part.

I guess it depends. OP, how did you manage to damage the dashboard like that?

Not really Killa, the only thing that will depend is how much they want to charge you. Nothing else to be explained or asked about. It is a known issue that the dashboard is defective from the manufacturer. (this case obviously looks like OP's fault, but like I said they cant say anything because a melting dashboard COULD of contributed to this, so they have to)

I would take it to a dealership where you do most of your service with, sometimes the better the relationship you have with the dealership, the more lenient they will be on the cost...

for example, I payed $224, CCJ22 payed just under $800. Same exact thing, we both went through lexus corporate.

^ I understand what your saying, but if OP damaged the dash by hitting it with something or something along those lines...I don't think it'd be right to blame it on the "defective dash". I know its prone to melting and all, no argument about that....but if the damage in the pics is reasonable from whatever happened to it, i'd disagree on trying to pass it off with the "Defective dashboard" argument. If it was just peeling on its own or from simply normal handling, then that's fine, but it looks like the dash was hit with something (not saying it was deliberate either)

Sorry man with due respect I disagree, did you look at that last picture? looks like finger streaks from a melted dashboard

Wether he banged out those holes or not they should replace his dashboard. Now if he has a hole in his seat, thats something else. I am not one to try and pass anything off but if the issue is there I will find a solution somehow. Lexus drains people's wallets on a daily basis. A simple 2 hour job am sure wont break their bank.
