Default upgrade to 2012 IS350 F-Sport or something else?

i'm facing 3 choices regarding my 2011 IS250

1) keeping it
pros: save money, wait until the Gen3 IS coming out
cons: car is way to slow, get as much value as i can while i can before the gen3 IS launches

2) trade in for 2012 IS350 F-Sport
pros: it'll be the last model year of this generation IS, so it's rock solid, F-Sport package adds to its uniqueness even after the new generation IS comes out
cons: i will be kicking myself whenever i see a new gen IS on the road a year from now.

3) trade in for 2013 BMW 328i sportsline (same price as the IS350)
pros: something new, great motor, just as fast as the current 335i while getting 34 mpg on highway
cons: first year model, possible ton of glitches.

what would you do?

I'd keep my is250 and wait for the 3rd gen to come out.

Wait and get the gen3 or just mod the one you got.

Just as fast as the 335i? HUH?

As for your options, I would wait for the 3rd gen if you want to stay in the IS line. I am not a fan of the fsport version simply because I personally feel it's a waste of money for barely any performance gains if any at all. That is just my opinion though.

When I do replace my IS350 I really have no idea what I will get., I really want more space and more power for sure.

I'd say wait till the 3IS comes out, if you like it, get it. If you don't like it, you can get into a 328i (maybe even used) or you can get into a used 2011 IS-F Sport at that time. Sounds like a personal decision to me in the end though, what we say shouldn't affect your decision ideally! Go with whatever seems right for your needs

Also i don't believe the 328i Sportline is as fast as the 335i. Sportline has a 240hp/255 tq motor

I would keep the 250 and wait on the 3rd gen. If you like it then go for it then, if you don't then you can re-evaluate then.

I had an 2010 E92 335i, and in no way is the new 328 as fast. That car has a twin turbo straight six and makes 326hp, The new 328 has a turbo 4 banger and makes 240hp. The 328 x drive has a 6 and makes 230hp. 0-60 times on the later are only a few tents faster than an awd is250. In any case my 3 ended up as a Lemon buy back, so I'm not exactly impressed with that. Great car otherwise, but you will also be paying a lot more for similar options. Anyway I have a 250 now and I'm very impressed with it as primarily a luxury car with some Sporting ability. I've gotten it up well past what I'd consider suicidal on public roads, so it's fast enough for my intentions. If you're going to track it and want a real fast car just get a boss. For the same price you'll be crushing m3's at the track.

If you can afford it I would go for the 2012 IS350 F Sport, maybe I'm a little biased because I just got one 2 weeks ago. If you can't afford a new car purchase I would wait until you can and then re-evaluate the marketplace.

In terms of the value of the F Sport package I think that $2,400 is pretty reasonable for the below items:
18" Dark Superchrome wheels with 225/40R18 front and 255/40R18 rear summer tires; Sport-tuned suspension and electric power steering tuning; F-Sport front seats, steering wheel, shift **** and front fender badge; Microfiber inserts for front and rear seats; Heated front seats; Aluminum door-sill scuff plates; Upper and lower grille inserts; Front lip spoiler; Aluminum sport pedals; Rear spoiler; Silver metallic interior trim.

Don't throw away money like that. Wait for the 3IS and go from there.

I'd keep what you have now and wait for the 3rd Gen IS. You will probably change your mind many more times from now until then.

IMHO I would only get rid of my IS if I had the money and opportunity for a IS-F or new GS if I were to stay within the Lexus family.

Good luck on your decisions.
