Wow, thanks everyone! Hopefully those that attempt this DIY will come out with some great results.
Here's another CF weave that I'd love to see in some ones car.
juvi22003: I would love to do this but i think I would get inpatient
I hear ya. I made some big mistakes in the beginning because I'm an impatient person as well.
Jzsicklexi: How about a trade, I'll retrofit your headlights and you can do this for me looks great man! This summer I'll be in Portland a bit and would love to see your car!
Thanks for the retrofit offer, but for now I think I'm done with carbon fiber. It is very time consuming...my girfriend hates it. There's not many fixed up Lexus in Oregon so we should for sure all get together at some point this summer.
Sffd103: Great write up!!! Pics are awesome and very detailed. I'd like to see that red in my car also. Thanks for doing this! How much did you spend in all equipment? Now you need the silver cf steering wheel.
It's hard to know for sure how much I've spent in total. On top of all the things I listed in the DIY I have also bought, 1 whole wood interior set (what I used to CF, still have my original wood), extra front passenger and rear driver switch in wood, 1 full set of grey window switches, and carbon fiber starter kit from the UK which I used to do my first piece 2 times over.
If you have most of the tools, and are using your interior pieces, you could probably do everything for $200.
As for the steering wheel, I may do the trim around the buttons in Texalium, but I like the feel of leather all the way around
Wow man that's a really good write up. Awesome work and an even better write up. Its people like you the give me hopes for the car community. Took a long process and made it even longer by taking pics along the way for others to benefit on.
