someone here in the isf forums knows about a tape that is made specifically for this.
it was a build thread of a blue isf who changed the color and had blacked out everything including lights.

cant fint it right now

Your car looks great with the black trim

Nooo! I still like metallic wheels, exhaust, and emblems for the exterior. As for the interior? All black would be fine.

I was thinking about vinyling the trim but I'm afraid it will peel after time and the edges won't be smooth close up. Looks great though.

This is what I used and I still had tape from when I used it on the Mini

Here is what I used: 3M™ Scotchcal™ Striping Tape 72793, Low Gloss Black, 1/2 in x 150 ft

It's been almost a year and the vinyl has held up great. It still has the same color and the rear window sections have not peeled. I love the gloss black when compared to flat black, but that's just me. The only tricky part is where the front strips meet the triangular plastic piece in front of the side view mirrors. Water can get caught in there and make the edges peel, which happened once. However it didn't take but half an hour to replace the front bottom strips on both sides due to my skill level. It has not peeled again. I think a little bit of extra labor now and again is worth the blacked out look.
