I love my IS except for these:
1. location of Aux Jack
2. Weight of the car compared to other cars in its class
3. underpowered
4. 2 & 3 giving it a low power-to-weight ratio

Everything else I love about this car combined out weighs everything I don't like about it.

Just for clarification - do you drive an IS250?

1) terrible ride on anything but the smoothest and best roads

2) transmission that cannot be serviced

3) tacky plastic covers on the engine

4) cheap plastic clips to keep the engine covers secured

5) Rattles in the dash

6) Rattles in the doors

7) Rattle in the passenger side headrest

8) Stock stereo system that fatigues my ears. FM tuner quality.

9) Rear seat that does not fold down!

10) Mandatory sunroof. (eats a couple inches of headroom)

11) cheap rubber trim around windshield that disintegrates.

12) too thin of disk rotors that warp easily. Aluminum brake calipers instead of cast iron.

There are probably more, but those are the biggies I can think of now.

******************

Heres what I like about it:

1) Engine power
2) Good acceleration
3) Great styling
4) Comfortable seats, and a high quality interior (minus the rattles)
5) Takes corners really well.
6) Toyota reliability.

Rattles and squeaks are in every Toyota that I have ever owned. The dash and rear window are the worst offenders and I would think that Toyota would address this at some point. I have seen user posts where they install thicker pads between the clips etc.

I have a 2007 IS250 AWD.

I like the sports car look and feel but I do wish I had more leg room up front (let alone the back) and of course better cup holders and a pocket or two to put things in that are in easy reach while driving.

I think some of the issues like the carbon build up, brake dust, and rear view mirror streaks should not be an issue in a $40K car. Toyota has legendary engine quality but some of these issues seem to be them taking their eye off of the ball.

But wait, the rears sensed a slip, so the Lexus computer thinks it needs to protect me from myself and cut out my throttle to save me from doing a doughnut at 2 mph ! At about the same time I am half way into 50 mph traffic coming from my left and I have a non responsive gas pedal . It's happened many times just leaving my neighborhood. A T-bone waiting to happen. It's not really a fun factor killer since I know in advance if some fun is in the air and I switch the stupid thing off. Not always the case when just doing every day driving, and certainly not for my kids who could easily find themselves with no acceleration. My BMW M is not nearly as invasive, and once switched off stays off - however I rarely if ever need to turn it off on the M since it lets a little slippage happen but doesn't kill all attempts of acceleration.
I have to agree with all of Jacksonman's post about the stability control. Just this last week that when we were hit by a major snow storm in MN. I have experience almost the same situation where stability control cut off the gas pedal when I was getting on a 45+ mph street and with traffic coming from behind. I would thought with the AWD on my IS 250, it would kick in better traction, but nope.

But here are my gripes about the Lexus IS 250 AWD.

1. Rear leg room
2. Trunk a bit small
3. Cup holder & aux
4. Drive visibility kinda not the best specially with the A pillars having air bars in them makeing them bulky. Back window visibility sucks.
5. Cheap or sucky plastic trims for some parts.
6. Steering wheel tilt could of been better
7. HID standard on all models ???
8. As other mention long cold start up time compare to other cars I've driven
9. S mode shift sucks
10. From driving my stock Evo 9 the IS 250 feels like it has alot of body roll. Might have to look into getting better sway bars.
11. Other more minor complains but we'll leave it at that for more to tell.....

Other then that car is still fun to drive and looks good.

-Lack of rear leg room & limited front and rear head room
-Big A pillars
-Only a single cup holder in the front
-Loud sunroof creek/pop when going on driveways
-Lack of tuning options
-I feel like it should get better than 25mpg hwy
-Having to press "I Agree" on the nav screen everytime
-Having to turn the A/C off everytime I hit the auto climate button when I want some heat

The blind spot in the windshield Corner / Side Mirror area is very dangerous.

Placement of the aux input
The clock being so low
Placement of the ECT switch (difficult to locate in the dark)
And for some reason, the pedals seem off to the left too much and it feels like I am sitting twisted a bit. The car is still new for me, so I am still working out the best seat position.
I wish the smart key would lock the doors when I walk away from the car, but that's not a huge issue.
Ride does seem a little bumpy, I thought it might be the struts wearing out or something, but it sounds like a common complaint.
Plenty of noise in the car. I think mine is mostly the various panels in the trunk not latching very well.

As for not having fold-down rear seats. My 2007 has them. Is that uncommon? Granted I haven't really messed with them yet. Is there something weird about them?

I absolutely hate the rain sensing wipers. Pisses me off to no end. Ive turned the **** in the lever but it will not slow these puppies down. They are way too sensitive

The VSC system killing acceleration when coming off curbs. Which is why I always press the temp traction off button, else zero throttle for 3 seconds.
The clock. Just looks cheap and outdated even relative to the period.
Carpeted fender liners which pick up dirt all year round and are a PITA to clean.
How you can't turn off the VSC and traction control while in motion.
The slow response of manual mode
Aux Jack location.

Aside from those things I've quite enjoyed my one year ownership of the car. Great reliable daily.
