Why are some dealers doing changes at 5k and some at 10k on the 2011's?

Do all of the 2011 IS250's come with synthetic from the factory? Will dealerships try and put in reg oil? I've never dealt with dealership bs. I've just always done the mobil 1, amisol or royal purple myself in the past. Yet if this first 5k change is free, I'll try it out.

AFAIK all 250s for 2011 came with synthetic and an official every-10k-with-synthetic oil change interval, my guess is they just didn't bother to change the programming in the car that turns that reminder on at 4500 (and keeps it on full time at 5k). You can reset it per directions in the owners manual to go away (for another 4500 miles anyway).

No idea what they will put in for you at the dealership though, the "normal" change on other 2ISes is certainly not synthetic though...I'd be sure and ask (and insure it's synthetic for the free change)

Probably just change the oil just incase of metal shards during the break-in.

I did that with mine.

Thanks for the info. I'll go in to change some of the LPS things, and see what they are wanting to change the oil with. If it's not synthetic I'll just take it home and do it.

Any clue what brand Lexus uses as their synthetic oil from the start?

I bought a new 2011 IS350 and the service guys says it has regular oil in it now. Is the IS250 different or is there a reference to prove it is synthetic oil in there?

I called my dealer about the free oil change at 5k miles and they said it was for regular oil. $30 extra to go synthetic :-(

yes, that's why I specifically said 250 in my post. The 350, for some reason, was not changed to synthetic from the factory.
