I'm sorry you subjected your two passengers to this. That's just irresponsible driving. But I hope we can all learn a lesson from this. What tires do you have on the rear? Any tread? Summer tires in temps below freezing?

Your car is a write off. Your insurance will hike your rates or probably just drop you altogether next renewal.

I'm glad you're ok but I find it hard to believe that you lost control of your car to the extent where this kind of damage occurred while going 30 to 35 mph. At that speed, your VSC would have def kicked in and saved you. I'm going to guess 60 to 70 in a 35 mph zone.

Every insurance co is different but I've heard that if the airbags go off, they total the car and judging from your pixs, it looks like all of the air bags went off so again, this was a pretty serious accident.

On a side note, I'm sure this will be the last time your sister and her boyfriend asks you for a ride.

We were all fine but i ended up pinned down and had to crawl out of the passenger side. The car did turn on (with some trouble...grinding, maybe battery problems dont remember i was in shock) and i was able to back it up for the tow truck. Based on experience do you guys think it might be a considered a loss?
btw look at the back of the truck... my car actually shifted the truck about three feet to the right... no one was on the truck according to police it was abandoned but im still at fault..thank god for full insurance.

Especially with you saying this, you def were not going 30-35 mph. Did the cop roll his eyes when you told about 30-35mph?

Was the box trunk abandoned in the middle the far right lane...or just parked on the right side of the street?

Nevertheless, glad you were in a Lexus and it kept you safe. Do go see a doctor, as my fellow co-worker here is saying that is he is feeling all sorts of "new" pains after his accident last night too. Another Lex down.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Glad to hear everyone is safe. I agree with the other's the insurance will likely total the car.

Update: so the car drives.. No leaks... Again both trac and stability were off. I didn't loose control of the car going in a straight line I lost it while I was making that hard left. When I tried to stabilize the car it streered to right and that's when happened. Main airbags did not deploy only the side airbags on the driver and behind the driver side. No way I was going anything over 40 remember I lost control while turning not after I made that sharp left. Again thanks everyone for worriying im thinking of buying 04-05 acura tl until the next gen is comes out... Def not getting first year though. And someone asked if the cop made a comment... Well he just laughed and said "it happens". Verte cool guys. I def learned my lesson. Someone asked what tires... Dunlop sp sport Maxx I had over 70 percent thread left.

My traction control comes on quite often when I'm turning on street corners accelerating. A few weeks ago, my car's 2 other lights come on and started beeping at me when I was making a left at about 40mph and hit a bump on the road (I don't drive like that very often ... I was showing off )
