Dealer Scratched Steering Wheel
Hey guys...so back around Thanksgiving I brought my car in for a vibration in the steering wheel. I picked the car up the same day, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, at night. Thursday morning I went out in the car and noticed that the two silver pieces on the steering wheel that hold the controls were scratched on the edges where the airbag sits...on both sides. I took it in on Saturday and they said they'd replace it, which is great....BUT...I've been waiting since then for the part. I called and they originally said it'd be in on the 12th, which I thought was crazy and it wasn't ordered until the 1st. Then I was told the 15th, now being told the 20th! My car is basically brand new and I keep it super clean. I'm happy it'll get replaced but it's driving me nuts. What would you guys do?

My silver piece is scratched up too from the dealership. They promised me they will replace it when I bring the car in since I said it's minor and won't come in just for that until I come for service. They also need to replace my cluster cover pieces since its been marked up too which will also be replaced.
I would wait a bit since there maybe a shortage but call the service manager and ask about the status about your silver pieces.

Eh looks like you just have to play a waiting game with them. You could call the service department, ask for the service manager and let him know your getting annoyed with how this is turning out. I can't imagine those pieces would take more than a couple days to arrive. Whenever the dealer has gotten replacement parts for me that aren't in stock they are usually there in 2 business days.

I bet if you ordered from sewell it would be there less than a week. I bet they are hoping you forget about it. When they dealer I used damaged an stock exhaust tip not only did they replace it in less than a week... they replaced it before I picked it up. That's good customer service.
I would call them back and tell them it don't even take that long to get complete cars transfered LOL and ask em what the hold up is.

It usually takes about 1-2 business days if they order the part from their local warehouse, assuming if the wherehouse has the part in stock. If the local wherehouse does not stock the part, they will have to order it from another warehouse, which could be in another city in the same state, or another state. Sometimes they may accidently order the wrong part, which is realized when the part arrives, and then re-orders the part. So it would be hard to stay when the part will arrive. It's one of those things where you will have to be patient and wait I suppose.

Each part is a different situation. I would think that they do not have to replace these parts that often and the part is not readily available. I understand that the car is new and a luxury car but be patient but also persistent. If you make sure you hold them to what they are saying about the 20th they will repair it with no issue. If you hassle them continuously they will remember you and be less likely to help you in the future.
