Default Engine squeaking from pulley area when it's humid

I went out and started my car today after it had been raining pretty much all day. I drove a couple hundred yards to my apartment leasing office and got out. I left the car idling and I heard this horrible squealing noise coming from under the hood. I popped it to see if i could locate the source and it seemed to be from the pulley area at the front of the engine. It sounded horrible, but after driving about another mile up the road and getting out it had gone away.

Has anyone else had this issue? It sounded like maybe it was the clutch for the a/c compressor?

It's been raining here all day as well and my car sounded fine. In your case it seems like moisture might be getting somewhere where it shouldn't.

Is your car missing one of the underside engine bay cover?

Try some belt dressing and see if that helps. Have you ever had any of the belts replaced or someplace remove the belts at one point?

i have this problem but i also have a vented hood that i leave open so i know its moisture. It sounds like your belt might need changing.

PS: Belt dressing normally dries tje belt and causes cracking. I wouldnt advise it. First try to tighten the belt.

my suspect might be a worn or loose belts, check the wear and tension, adjust if necessary or worst just replaced it,there's a lot of factor that causes squeal, the above mentioned and maybe tension decay or sidewall wear other people says that in the morning, your alternator needs more energy to charge the battery up from sitting over night. So it takes more power to turn the alternator, putting more stress on the belt, causing a loose or worn one to squeal until the battery is near or at full charge. just try getting the drive belts tightened, if that doesnt work, get new ones on.another factor that causes squeal is that we try some belt dressing or lubricants that sometimes it helps to stop squeal but not solving really the problem.again IMO!

I had this issue on a different car. Serpentine belt was glazed and any moisture caused it to squeal. Replaced the belt with a Goodyear Gatorback brand and the squeal was gone. Can you see your belt? Is it glazed and shiny?

Replaced my belt over the weekend, seems to have fixed the issue. It was pretty easy to replace it.
