Default how to install flyaudio in my 08 is250 w/fact nav. lots of pics.

i have successfully installed the fly audio 2nd gen in my 08 is 250 with factory nav . i made a diagram with lots of pics! there was only 1 other cl member who did this mod that i am aware of. basicly you are just reversing the process of installing nav in a non nav car so the plug will fit into the flyaudio unit, and it is only 1 plug that does not fit. after doing this mod i now have both of the plugs needed to either just plug in my stock nav unit, or fly audio unit without ever touching the harnesses again. the wiring diagram is PDF and is below in the next few posts. by the way if you have factory nav and want a fly audio then this will work! if you have non factory nav then just plug and play the fly audio unit. GL and enjoy. hope it helps.

The install diagrams will work for lexus is vehicles with factory nav. However im not sure how to get the airbag light to go away, i just covered over the light. Anyway i have files i created from some others i found and revamped them using microsoft xls documents. I can not post them here because the file is too large! One person i sent them to said it saved the day and even offered to send me some cash via paypal, but i turned down the cash and only want to be helpful to my fellow cl members. So if you pm me and include in the pm your email address , ill send it over.

Let me get this straight, you installed a flyaudio system into a IS that had a OEM navigation unit? Was the OEM unit bad, and how in the hell did you pull this off??

You can save the excel as a PDF, and then upload it here or use some type of picture sharing site (photobucket) and then post the image of the pdf here.

Man the info that you can find here on the forum is insane! I love this forum!

thanks! i figured out how to get it converted and uploaded, attachment at bottom.

my original factory nav unit was perfectly fine! i wanted dvd, but did not want to add a interface module or place a dvd player in the glove box. so i searched the cl forums and found only 1 other person who did it. his diagrams were good, but i was still confused a bit with some gateway wires, so i studied it real good and ordered a j54 plug from dealer
and installed some wires into the new j54 plug and tapped them onto the J53 harness that was on the side of the old nav unit without cutting anything! this way i can just plug in the original factory nav unit if i ever want to go back. only issue i ran into was the airbag light, which i could not figure out how to get it to go away. i even called a guy in canada who has done it and still no luck, so i just removed the cluster and put something over the led housing where the light was. you could never tell i have a airbag light on at all, and it doesnt cause any issues except that if an accident happend the passenger airbag would not diploy.( i am not responsible if you do the same and air bag does not diploy in a accident, do at your own risk! )

Your a mad scientist man! I'm sure that there are a bunch of guys here on this forum that have an OEM navigation that has gone bad and have wanted to swap it over to a flyaudio for a fraction of the cost of what it would cost to replace a OEM navigation.

I can personally say that before getting the IS that I have now, I looked at a bunch of used ISs and one of them was a 2007 IS350 that had a bad navigation screen, the seller has giving me a really good discount on the car because of the bad screen. I passed on it because when I found out what it would cost to replace it, the discount that I was not enough.

If I would have thought or if I would have know that you can replace a bad OEM navigation with a flyaudio unit, and that it would be that easy then I would have taken the deal on that IS350 with the bad OEM navigation in a heart beat!

well, you might just run into another deal later or somebody you know will, and then you will have options. and by the way i have been installing car audio since 1993 and only because i seen someone do it here is the only reason why i tried it, i just did a few things different than the OP in the other thread i saw. mad scientist? probably not! but a damn skilled 12v electronics specialist. i even do remote car starts on cars equipped with PTS or intellikey in my sleep. lol

ok.. I just went to the lexus dealership and they don't sell the j54 connector by itself. So how am i suppose to get one or so? I've given them the part number 11911 also and they say they only sell the whole harness only. Which run about 1700 wow... So how would i be able to get one if you dont mind me asking?
