Question Anyone have 16" wheels + studless snow tires?

Hi All,

I'm thinking this fall/winter season might be the first time I might buy a set of 16" wheels and Blizzak WS70 215/55R16's to go all around for my IS250 AWD (and I guess a new full set of TPMS sensors since the 2IS can 'remember' two sets of them).

Has anyone else run a similar configuration of 16" and studless snow/ice tires? I did a search in the forum and found some decent info on snow/ice tires but didn't see anyone really pointing out they switched to 16" wheels. I'm mainly concerned with iced-over on/off-ramp overpasses and some decent grade hills that could be covered in ice, snow or both.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Kermee

P.S. I know I mentioned 'ice' above but I'm pretty set on getting studless tires vs. studded.

P.P.S. I ran with Yokohama AVID ENVigor's (that had about 9/32" of tread on them at the time) last winter on snow/ice and they actually worked better than I expected, but this season around, I'm thinking it's safer just to get proper tires.

For the 250's you could. At one point, Lexus Canada used to have an option to carry 16" stock tires however it is no longer available. However from Lexus Japan, it can be selected.

It would not work on a 250 X-Package/F-Sport or 350 because 16" would not be able to clear the front brakes with the 4 caliper piston.

16" wheels fit all 250's, even with X-Package/Sport Package/F-Sport package. They all have the same small front brakes.

Really? I'm sure the 250 F-Sport uses the 4-piston caliper on the front which is the same as the 350.

No it does not, it has the same single piston caliper.

The rear on the 2011-12 F-Sport has the larger vented rotor like the IS250C/IS350, however the fronts are still the small brakes.

There is no IS250 that came from the factory with larger front brakes.

Oh I see now. I must of gotten confused. When I saw the larger vents, I assumed it had 4 piston caliper on them.
