Default Getting a 2006 IS350. What to look out for?

Hi, I'm new to the forums,
my buddy's friend is selling me a 2006 IS350 with Navi for $20000
The mileage is currently 50000miles
I live in canada the car was imported to Canada from the states
is the car worth it?

Im going to look at the car tomorrow
was wondering if theres anyything i should look out for in a 2006 IS350?
and its my first time getting a 2nd hand car after i crashed my 350z a couple weeks ago
so for a imported car do i need both carfax and icbc records?

or anything else i need to pay close attention to please let me know

But now that your asking the navigation unit is a POS unless you have extended warranty.

Sorry to vent, mine just went out.

I'd pull a Lexus report of all the service/warranty/repairs done on it. That'll be the most benefical info right there. Other than looking/smelling the oil, listening to the car while idling, making sure all of the interior/exterior functions of the car work...that's not a bad price.

2006 IS350 w/ 39k miles here...no issues with the NAV (yet).

Yeah, usually all of the "use the search button" replies **** me off too. Maybe the BMW forums will be more welcoming.

Just remember to keep it healthly in the turbos you'll needa oil change about every 2 monthly as the turbos absorb that oil quickly :P

What do you mean they absorb oil?! lol My roomie had a 335i and changed oil less than i did. A good synthetic oil will go a long way, even in a turbo application. You just change oil whenever the on-board computer says its time in the 335i.

Side note: My roomie changed HPFPs more than i changed oil tho

Nobodies trying to be unwelcoming. In fact, Clublexus is the most welcoming forum i've been on. That being said, there ARE actually plenty of threads for people acquiring an IS. One is even stickied right at the top of the 2IS section.

That's right, the guys on the Bimmerfest forum are too busy trying to fix their car to be hating, seriously. Theyre are a helpful lot by nature because there are so many problems with the car they don't have time to cut each other down. I was on it daily until I got fed up with the problems in my 325 Ci and traded in for the IS250.

The big difference that I see between the two forums: We're on CL are trying to make our car faster, prettier, cooler while on Bimmerfest (at least in the E46 section) most of us were trying to keep the car running, and get it running again.
