Eck I hate the 3.7. It's so course sounding. The VQ35 is where it's at

I raced agaisnt g35 and the new g37s and i'm confirm and approved this message -----> IS350 won everytime from dig or from roll ....on the roll it helps when using paddles shifter to choose lower gear and higher gear quicker...

Tips:

from 0: TC off/gear in D/ECT normal, do a small brake stand so you're not idling at 800rpm, say 1500rpm, you dont wanna go higher or you'll lose traction and just do a burnout at the start.

from a 40roll: TC off/gear in S and bring it down to 3/ECT normal, once you (him) hits the 3rd honk hit the gas and move the gear selector back into D.

No, you want to temporarily limit the car to 2nd gear, not 3rd gear, from 40 MPH. The OP would be destroyed if he used 3rd gear at 40 MPH.

1500rpm still spin tires=lose grip=time. Therefore; drivers have to play with it, tires and set up are different result . For me is around 800rpm is about perfect

Yup, practice makes perfect. In my case, I need to get up to about 2k RPM in order to spin the tires on launch.

2k is where I launch on BFG KDWs...but at a prepped drag strip. So you'll wanna play around on non-prepped surfaces and find out where your particular tire "bite/grab" at what rpm. Perhaps drop down the air pressure down to 30 psi in the tires as well.

I was launching at 2300 yesterday with nt555 drag radials. street tires will break free anywhere from 1600-1800, in my experience

okay guys, i pretty much got the tips for the race from a stop, just foggy on the whole 70% application of gas pedal, so i don't just floor it?? lol. Also for a 40 roll, with the same ect off and no vsc on, but do i drop it down to 2nd or 3rd?? just wanna make sure i get the perfect launch because due to his hp i don't want to lose any ground, he is pretty cocky when it comes to his ride. i will be taking out my sub and my spare tire to lose some weight, plus im due for an oil change anyways, so I'll be sure to do that before the race as well. i don't have stock rims, im rolling on konig lace which should be lighter than the oem ones. im feeling pretty confident now. :-D

I removed the pre-07 Gs as they're again a different generation of vehicle/powertrain, and the IPL as it adds about $10,000 to the car for essentially 15 more hp- if that's legal I'm throwing a supercharger on the 350 for half that and we can race

I then removed the IS300 which isn't remotely the same vehicle (different chasis/platform/powertrain entirely) and the 250 and IS-F which is again totally different powertrain as being discussed...

At which point the slowest 350 times are in line with the very fastest G times.... and nearly all of the G times are .2-.4 seconds slower than even the slowest 350 time.

Simply put, all else being equal (tires, road conditions, driver, weather, etc)- Stock for stock the IS350 is a quicker car than the G3x is to at least to the 1/4 mile.

The 350 only coming in auto helps too, as it's harder for a bad driver to screw things up.

It's interesting because when Nissan went 350Z->370Z they added some power and reduced weight and got a fantastic performance result.

When they did the same engine swap going G35->G37 they added weight and actually slowed the car down.

Ignore the 70%. Torque brake up to around 1500 rpm and then slam the accelerator at the start. Would definitely help if you lowered the pressure somewhat on your tires down to around 30 for some extra traction. On the 40 roll, limit it to 2nd gear at the start and then immediately go to 4th after mashing the gas. This will keep it in 2nd until 60 but shift through the gears as normal after that. Oh, and be sure to run on < 1/2 tank of gas, 1/4 tank would be best. That's more weight drop than most anything else you could do (~ 70lbs). Do all these and you should smoke the G37.

Like everyone said you'll get him from a stop but he'll mostly pull up top if you guys keep going. Also you didn't mention what year the G37 is or if its AT or MT. Since 09+ came with the 7AT instead of the 5AT
