Hello everyone. my question is this. i live in Ontario Canada and straight up we get raped on everything from taxes to winter tires. Since i got my car only a few months ago, i want to make sure i have a set of winter tires ready for the winter. Since i have stock 18" rims on my car with staggered tire size. currently running 225/40/18 Front, 255/40/18 Rear. i found a good priced used tires which i want to use to get through this winter. the only problem is that the tire size for all four is 245/40/18. i want to know, will these winter tires fit on the stock rims?? Please help since i will be picking the tires up today. Thank you

The rears you'll be fine, but the fronts...you MIGHT have rubbing issues. Stock suspension and ride height?

Yes the car has stock suspension and ride height.

Why not just buy it off a place like tire rack or discount tire and have them ship it over to a facility near the border like: http://shiptotheborder.com

I bought mine off tire rack and had them ship it over to Blaine (since I'm in BC) and it saved me quite a bit.

Thanks alot bro. had no idea that this service was available. the only reason im not purchasing a brand new pair this year is due to shortage of money (Gsxr 750 is to blame) anyways. im getting a mildly used Pirelli Sottozero RFT all four for $500. and the cheapest package off tire rack will cost me $880+tax+driving to buffalo+ship-to-border-fee.
but will use this service to get tires for summer time when i get my new rims. Thank you once again.

Why not run 225 in the front and a smaller width tire in the rear?
I too am looking for a good set of winter tires for my is350, and after some research (i have factory 18's staggered like yours), narrow tires are better for winter, and wider tires are better for wet/dry (summer).
Reason being, the narrower the tire (within reason...) the less snow the tire will have to push to move around. Also, I figure instead of having a wider surface area to distribute the entire weight of the car, you're running more weight per surface area allowing more pressure to be pushed down.
So what I've figured is 225/45 in the front, stock 18's run 255 but I wanna see whats the best recommended rear tire size for snow.

Yes i agree with you. again the only reason why i want to know those tires will fit it due to the fact that im getting them very very cheap. and having a narrower tire than 255 at rear will also help in the snow since it will dig in and get more traction form the road itself. i know i can fit 245 at rear no problem...but the front seem to be the problem.

Maybe someone had tried 245 in the front. since the tire has the same wall size of 40 and rim 18, the width seems to be the only problem. let see what our Lexus Club member have to offer.

I run blizzak 225-45-18 on both front and rear of my stock IS350 wheel for the winter time works great. I pretty sure you can fit 245-40-18 up front. I seen some here run there 19s that size up front. But i only payed $600 for my tires brand new from tirerack a year ago. So $500 used is still step $300 would be a deal that just me.

Thanks a lot dude. i just want to be sure that is about it. but im sure they can fit. i just don't want them to rub. Fudge....everything is soo expensive in expensive in ontario stupid 13% taxes.

Main question here : will the 245/40/18 tires on stock wheels and stock ride height rub or cause issues?

Yes that is exactly what i am asking. so far lots of great suggestions but no one has give me a yes or a no.

the should be fine since I am on 235 for winter and 225 for the front speaking from experience.

I ran michelin alpine sports last winter on my 350 and they were great. Stock is really your best option for the fronts unless you want to go narrower. I tried to get a standard set all around and ended up going with 235's but they were rubbing in the front so I had them swap them out for the stock 225s in front and 255 in the rear.
