Default Paint tape on bumper for traveling long distance

I know there was a couple of threads on this but can't find it.. I'm driving from San Diego to SF. The last time I drove up the 5, my car bumper was full of bug crap. Will painter's tape leave adhesive on car? what if it gets really hot? any pix of how it's done?

painter's tape will not leave any residue on the car. pix? its just the front of a car covered up in blue tape. think of it as a really big clear bra.

Works very well, no tape residue at all.

Never had any problems with the tape. Some people even have some fun with the tape!

It reminds me back in the day when i owned Scion tC. i had whole front end and rear view mirrors covered with blue tape to avoid chips and bugs on the trip to Scion United By Individual in Vegas. Fun and fun

Remember to cover your rear view mirror at well, a lot of people didn't cover rear view mirrors and turn out they had chips on rear view mirrors

You don't need headlights during the day and there's blinkers on the mirrors (although, I think you still might need the front blinkers uncovered...) But yeah, overkill....

Law usually states still need headlights during the day. Can cut 2 circles where the lights actually come thru but need to be able to see them.

this was a while ago... i drive a lot between norcal and socal, my front is already peppered with chips so now i only tape it when i have time and energy to do it

got a lot of weird looks and also people laughing out loud with "wtf?" looks...

edit: i remember one member here wrapped his/her entire is-f in blue tape
there must be a post somewhere with a picture of it...

It does often leave residue but nothing a little Quik Detailer can't fix. It's worth doing it to avoid rock chips.
