Be careful. I did that in CA once to try and get a front license plate ticket signed off on my old car. It looked like it was bolted down, but the cop went up to it, pulled it and sure enough it came off.

Told me to get lost before he cited me for everything else he was seeing on the car, or found a reason to impound it
