IS 350 F-sport Nav Req?
Hi All,
I'm shopping for a 2011 IS 350 F-Sport and was wondering if the Nav package is required. I've talked to several dealers and they said that the Nav. Package comes with the F-sport 350s so I don't really have a choice..
Is this true?

Meh I dislike ISs without nav. Aesthetically, it looks better. But it also is a Nav system regardless if you use a smartphone or portable unit. Higher resale value. And my personal favorite, the backup camera which is a Godsend considering the high rear deck and small rear window.

I'm afraid that if I have to special order it, then I can't really negotiate for a lower price since its not on the lot. I agree with Hoovey that the IS does look nicer with the NAV....but with my phone, the nav unit is pretty much useless...

According to the 2011 MY ordering guide, the F-Sport package and Nav package are separate packages, so you should be able to order one without the other. But cars on dealer lot might opt to have both packages installed as the typical configuration, so you might not be able to find a F-Sport without Nav on the lot.

You should get the nav not only for the resale but because it has Lexus Enform. There is a button called destination assist and it is the best thing since sliced bread. It is a live rep 24/7 that comes on when u hit it and you tell the person where u want to go and they find the location and send it directly to your nav. Freakin awesome. No more punching in the location or having to search. All this while your driving...priceless!

Mine was happy to special order without jacking me on the price.
Why pay 40-50k for a car that isn't exactly the way you want it.
(everyone already knows my generally low opinion on the OEM nav- the resale argument is even sillier since you get significantly less back than the "price" of the option when you resell it... though at least the 2010+ systems are a bit less out of date on features compared to the 06-09 ones)

and FWIW, Lexus Enform isn't priceless, it's $265 a year
Probably worth it if you use the nav a LOT to set previously unknown destinations... not so much for most folks who apart from a few favorites destinations already in the system never touch the thing apart from the occasional road trip...
(and Garmin folks can set up their entire trip on their PC before they ever leave their house and download it, custom waypoints and destinations included, to the GPS...which is vastly, vastly, vastly faster and easier than trip planning where you have to use the in-car GPS to program the whole trip with mutliple destinations and stops and waypoints.)
