I would do that in a heart beat. I went to the Stealership the other day and one of the advisors noticed that my dash was sticky. Unfortunately since I was out of warranty he said that for me to get the parts is like around $1K plus labor costs. Maybe I need to give Lexus a call...

I definetly would give them a call, im guessing depending on how long you been out of warranty may determine if they do a good will fix for you, Im sure that lexus has records of the dash issue in florida,.....

Default Me too and the sides front windows

Me too, Florida.

The dash is melted and sticky - read some forums that seems to be semi common in hot climates (im in FL)

Called LEXUS corporate - they 'looked into it' and offered me:
- I pay for the part ($500)
- They cover labor ($800)

What do you guys think? Is this 'fair'?

Side note: I think I may have the cam chain clatter in the morning... :/[/QUOTE]

Sticky and crumbly. I bought my car used so the door panel was messed up already.

In the third picture, you can tell where it is sticky (left side). You actually might see a few detailed fingerprints in there lol. There is no texture and it is smooth and white. On the right side of the panel, there is texture. That part is covered when you close the door so it doesn't get affected.

The stickiness is difficult to see if you've kept your hands off of it and no objects sat on it. Mine for instance, you'll have dust or pollen sitting on top of the dash; and as you try to gently brush the debris away using the weight the microfiber cloth (no pressure, just gravity), some stays or becomes permanently embedded into the dash.

Wanna see if you have a "melting dash" problem? Press down on the dash (minor pressure) with your finger tip and it'll leave a fingerprint.

I'm left with waiting until the car has been sitting overnight in the garage to cool; and ONLY then will I use a microfiber towel to remove the bulk of the dust/debris and then follow it up with a QuikDetailer wipe with LIGHT pressure.

Sidenote, be careful not to use windshield cleaners where the overspray can end up floating down onto your dash; it'll not help tings. Windex wipes!

Yeah one day when I have a whole week off I will cover the dash with vinyl. My DIY with the door panels came out great.

Too late for it. Previous owner didn't take good care of it before I bought it.

This will sure prevent your dash from getting like that. Ill be getting one soon since the Texas heat is ridiculous. Not everyone's cup of tea but hey it works

Haha if I put one of those covers on, it will fuse together with the dash at one point lol.

my driver door panel looks similar to that little crack i figured it was just wear n tear, the car is 6 YEARS old... ill take a pic, maybe its just from the previous owner being careless a time or two.

besides that, the cars in mint condition. i just wrapped the car in 5%, hope it helps, im in south florida... and the cars been here its entire life too. 08' is250.

either way, this is my baby and she'll get anything she needs.
