Clear Plastic On Edge of Doors
I bought a used IS350 and it has the 3M clear shield on the hood and mirrors but it also looks like there is a shield on the outer edges of the doors too. They seem to be turning white like they have wax stuck under them.
Are these just protection strips that the dealer usually takes off before delivery or are these part of the 3M clear shield package? If they are part of the 3M package are they covered under warranty to be replaced?
If I peel them off will I have any issues?
Here are some pictures:
Sorry for the large pictures they were taken on my iPhone

I have clear bra on my car and it has those, they are there to help prevent chips when you open your door into something. If you dont like them you can totally remove them , but someone paid to have those installed

Those do come as part of the more "complete" protection packages. You can remove them if you want, i've heard some leave a line where the outline was on the door, but i heard its pretty easy to clean up with some cleaner wax. That stuff is gonna have the build up around it though, its all the wax, dirt, etc over time that gets stuck on the edges.

I bought my car used from the dealer (06 is350) and it has these on it as well. I waxed it the other week and the same thing happened, just take a toothbrush to it. It does reduce the damage when you open your car door into something.
But hey, if you don't like them, take them off.

that happens when you use a compound/polish or a wax with cleaners in it and are not careful to mask off those edges.
Take a q-tip with some 20% alcohol (mix rubbing alcohol with distilled water) and it will dissolve the crud. Might also have to go over it with a soft brush. It will also take off any wax so you should rewax/seal the area (use one with no cleaners)

This. My aunt's RX has them. Its pretty handy because her garage space is tight so she needs to open the door all the way and "lean" it against the wall - the paint on the walls rubs onto the plastic instead of marring into the paint.
Its a nifty feature, I'd keep it on if I were you; I wish I had it. You never know when you or your passengers are in a tight spot (or super careless) and slam it against something, causing paint transfer along the edges.

Yes, they are 3M clear bra for the door edge.
I have them installed after wife's co-worker rammed my door into a brick wall. I wish I knew about them earlier.
Anyway, if you are taking passengers in your car, I would keep them on. Other people may not care about your car so they open the door hard and fast. With this, you'll have some protection. If it's not cracking, peeling or yellowing, I would keep them.
