Fuel Economy Sucks After Valve Job
I recently had an exhaust valve replaced, and since then I have noticed that my mileage has gone down from an average of 22.5-23, to 21.5
So I basically lost 1.5 mpg. I know it's not a lot, but I track my mileage carefully, and this is really bugging me. My driving habits are the same as before the valve job.
I took it back to the dealer for my 60,000, and got the tune-up, etc.. I asked them to check on the mileage problem, they "ran tests" and hooked it up to some machine, and then told me nothing was wrong with it.
I'm not convinced. Anyone?

When you had a valve replaced, did the documentation say whether they also cut you a new valve seat? Why was the valve replaced in the first place...broken valve spring perhaps? Did the documentation say a spring was replaced as well?
If a brand new valve was introduced to a head of a vehicle that the valve seat was not machined to match that valve, then performance and fuel economy can be compromised.
