Problem with D4C bulb replacement, please help!
Hi,
I'm a newbie when it comes to DIY. After reading all of the threads I could find, my first attempt at trying to DIY on my '07 IS350 was to replace my HIDs with new 6k Garax D4S bulbs (my passenger headlight was going out intermittently).
I ordered Garax D4S bulbs from ijdmtoy and was so excited to install them. However, after I installed the new bulbs, I noticed a high-pitched humming noise coming from the headlights. I didn't notice the sound before so I took out the bulbs and noticed that they were D4C bulbs. After reading some threads apparently they supposed to work in place of the D4S. I also noticed that the bulb (middle portion) had turned cloudy.
I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with...
1) Is the high-pitched noise normal? It was louder at first then got quieter but it's still there.
2) Does it mean that the bulb is damaged if the middle portion turned "cloudy"?
Please help!! Thank you!!

I had a similiar issue minus the humming noise which cannot be good unless you turned them on with the car off. But for my understanding d4c is the universal fit for d4s and the d4r which my ls460 didn't like it them kept turning off and then upon further inspection you can see that the ground on the bulbs were different so they were not seating properly with the plug, with some cars it doesn't matter but I just went back to stock you can some stocks on ebay for a great price but if you want high kelving ratings you going to have to make sure you get some true d4s bulbs or search aroung the forum to see what everybody else is using is using without issues.

1. the high-pitch noise coming from under the hood is from the HID lighting system. and if it's slighly detectable (which now it is, for you), then yes, it's normal.
2. the bulb should not be damaged (lest they don't light up again anymore), since the cloudy part of the bulb is the gas inside the bulb that has been "lit". if anything, your garax bulb is now officially "used".

Thank you so much!! I feel better. I'll re-install the Garax 6ks and see what happens. And, I did turn on the lights without the engine on.
Thanks again!!!

I've dealt with many HID kits (OEM and aftermarket) that were installed on my previous cars or friends' cars) and they all hum. The high pitch humming isn't coming from the bulb, it's coming from the ballast. The OEM HID system with stock bulbs hum so you shouldn't need to worry.
