Default Need help. Buying a used 06 IS350.

I'm in the market for a used 06 IS350. My local dealership has an 06 IS350 with 80k. Do I need to worry about anything?

Yes. Check to see if any of the TSIBs were performed. There are other threads that discuss buying tips.

The real question is...how much for it?

Nothing against 06's but, being the first year model, it seems alot of complaints come from the owners of this year model. I would say if all tsb's are done, could be a good deal, but if you see an 07' or 08' for anywhere near the same price range, I would go with that.

Yeah, how much is the price for it? Car shouldn't be more than $20-21k at most. There's lots of threads here with good info for buyers. Just be aware of the common issues and check to see if the service is up to date. You can do so by checking at any Lexus dealer and if the previous owners went to dealer for work, it'll show up.

Read this thread, should answer all your questions: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

To gauge whether it's a good deal, you'd need to provide the price and ideally the link to the online listing so people can see options, etc. For an '06 IS350 with 80k miles, I wouldn't pay anything over $20k unless it comes with a warranty or something. My '07 IS350 with 56k miles and a CPO warranty was $24.5k.

FYI... I bought an 06 IS350 in April, it had all TSIBs fixed and it only had 14,000 mi and I got for $25,000. It even has NAV/ML + Luxury PKG + Parking Sensors. It was from the original owner who was retired and used it as a second car.

KBB has an 06 with 80,000 miles priced between $17-$23k depending on the condition and the options. I agree with the others above in not going above $20k unless it comes with CPO warranty, good options, good maint history, and of course accident free.

Good Luck!

The above link is also good to look at since its about high mileage IS250 and 350's. Many people have over 100k with no issues.

My last Lexus, a 1997 ES300 had over 170k when I sold it a few months ago, nothing ever cost me more than a set of tires, and any repair over $100 was rare since I can do most stuff myself. At 170k it ran just as good as when I bought it with 70k and it even got better gas mileage, possibly due to synthetic oil, newer plugs & wires, and newer oxygen sensors. And by the way, my dads highlander has 230k miles and no major issues, Toyota/Lexus makes a great car.

I just had my IS350 that I bought at Carmax checked out by my Lexus dealer for free. No issues found.

I think you're talking about 2 different things. I got the impression chi was talking about getting the dealer service history (which shows what work/repairs/maintenance has been done on the car at every Lexus dealer), and this is free on Lexus.com. I think you're talking about taking the car to a dealer to get a pre-purchase inspection, for which they typically charge an hour's labor, or $115-130.

I highly recommend that the OP and anyone considering purchase of a used Lexus does both of the above. $120 is a small price to pay to find out that the car needs major work or worse, that it's been in an accident.

I am taking about that. I bought the car at Carmax. Carfax and autocheck records were clean. But still wanted to make sure. Since Carmax has a 5 day return policy, I took it to Lexus to do 2 recalls and purchase inspection. I was expecting to pay $150 for it but when I picked it up, it was free. I got a RX350 loaner to drive for 2 days free as well.

I have an 06 IS350 with ML, Nav & luxury package. Bought it with 19k miles in 07 and the only complaint I've had is the stereo issues early on and one of the outside mirrors not tilting down properly when in reverse. Both fixed under warranty more than once. Otherwise the car has been excellent. The newer model years have a few extra features that I'd like to have such as the shark fin antenna on the roof instead of the small XM antenna on the trunk, and I like the fog light indicator on the dash when they're turned on. No deal breakers though. An awesome car no doubt.

This is not what I'm talking about, this is entirely different. You bought the car, then you took it to the dealer for recall work. Recall work is free, and most dealers will provide you a loaner also free. And since the dealer was doing two quite involved recalls at the same time, I'm not surprised they looked over the car for you for free as well.

Your case is unique because Carmax has this return policy. The vast majority of people will need to bring the car in for a pre-purchase inspection BEFORE they buy it. This will not be free, and it shouldn't; you want the work to be thorough.
