Led and hid put off less heat than halogens, so im going to agree it's sunlight, probably prove this theory by noting locations?

Ya, from my understanding, on sunny day at some angles, the projector acts as a magnifying lens intensify the sun light right on that spot, causing high heat which slowly causes these bubbling defects on the flat black paint.

You can tell both driver and passenger side headlights have bubbling defects on the similar locations right under the projectors...this also happens on the new Mazda 3 headlight as I heard.

It's a waiting game, hope to hear recall from Lexus soon...

No joke, this is one reason why I am not going to buy another Lexus/Toyota car in the future...they are really slacking off in the quality department. I can't believe something like this is happening on your new car. Did the engineers not go through proper testing??? Come on Lexus, step it up a notch!

Sorry but, whatever.
Small bubbles in paint on a totally new design of headlight is nothing compared to the problems other makers take years to address if they correct them at all.

This is a silly reason to not buy another brand of car....

Now the problem is in the red arrow, or the blue arrow?

Also, did anyone install protection film on the 2011 headlights?

Neither, the problem is the black painted flat surface that runs horizontally in front of the headlight projector. I would say the problem is definitely the paint. The chrome ring your red arrow points at may help cause the defect but its not the 'problem'

Just checked my 2011 IS 250 that I've had less than a month. Driver's side headlight - no problem. Passenger's side headlight - DEFECT! Hope Lexus finds a permanent fix soon.

yeah i installed the protection film from Xpel.com i had it on my 07' lights before also. i wanted to try something different so i ordered from Rvinyl and there 2011 headlight protection doesnt cover the whole headlight, it stops at the orange side reflector, and its thin compared to the xpel. but im guessing thats why its more expensive. lol.....

Yes, PPF on headlights, bumper, full hood, full front fenders and side mirrors. I'm hoping the PPF on the headlights help to preserve (keep clear) the headlights.

I guess I'll have to have the headlights redone once Lexus replaces the assembly.
